San Mateo, Foster City, & Belmont 2012 Spring Softball Packet

TO: FROM: RE: All Current & Potential Softball Managers San Mateo Recreation Department Spring/Summer 2012 Softball Team Registrations

Thank you for your interest in the Spring/Summer 2012 season of San Mateo, Foster City, &
Softball in these three great cities.

Belmont Adult Softball Leagues. San Mateo is very excited to have the opportunity to facilitate Adult

The Spring/Summer Season begins approximately the first week of April, 2012 (Foster City and Belmont may start the second week of April) and concludes in June or July depending on different variables. Below we have outlined what steps you need to take in order to register your team(s). We accept teams in the chronological order in which they register, provided their registration forms and fees are correct and complete. To the best of our ability, teams will be placed only into leagues matching their skill level. By registering early, you increase your chances of being accepted into the league of your choice and skill level. RegistrationDEADLINE FOR ALL TEAMS Friday, March 23rd 2012

Returning teams may register as soon as they receive this packet. New teams may register starting February 13th 2012. Registrations must be hand delivered, faxed to 650.522.7421, or mailed to our Athletics Office at 2001 Pacific Boulevard, San Mateo, CA 94403. Our office will be open from 9:00am to 5:00 p.m. (closed from 12pm to 1pm) on weekdays. Your registration will be time/date stamped. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE YOUR REGISTRATION FORM WAS RECEIVED (please call 650.522.7430 for verification). Leagues will not be formed until after March 28th at the earliest, so please do not call us to see if a league is filled. Be as flexible as you can and we will try our best to accommodate your team. **If your returning team was ranked #1 or #2 in any 2011 league, you could possibly be placed

into a higher division. Teams may be moved into higher or lower divisions at the discretion of the league director.
San Mateo, Belmont, and Foster City use ASA sanctioned rules, and our games are officiated by certified ASA umpires. The leagues are separated by skill level and experience (see the enclosed "Entry Request" form for our league offerings). We typically recommend newly formed teams to begin in a lower skill level league unless you are presently familiar with our leagues. Each team has a 10-game schedule. The top four teams then play in a single-elimination playoff at the end of the season to determine the league championship (various play-off formats may be implemented at the League Directors discretion). The team with the best overall record will receive t-shirts as the Division Winner. Teams winning the Championship game will receive a team trophy.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. San Mateo 2 umpire leagues are $795. Foster City and Belmont 2 umpire leagues are $760. San Mateo 1 umpire leagues are $650 and Foster City and Belmont 1 umpire leagues are $615. The reason for the price differential is due to the cost of keeping statistics in San Mateo. Please submit payment in the form of a cashier's check, money order, sponsor's check, or credit card (Visa or MC). NO PERSONAL CHECKS and NO CASH. You may call 650.522.7430 to make a payment over the phone. Please make checks payable to: City of San Mateo 2. A team roster form (which can be found at www.quickscores.com/sanmateo) complete with player names, addresses, phone numbers, and signatures.
