Read the TOPIC 1 PDF file and do the following exercises

1. Write a couple of sentences describing your house

I am Farah Rakhimy Az Zahra, I am a student at UNP. I come from Bengkulu, so while

studying in Padang, I lived in a boarding house at Jalan Gajah 8, which is not far from my

faculty. The boarding house is green and has 2 floors. Incidentally, my room is on the 2nd-

floor number 203. Inside my boarding house, the walls are cream-colored. Inside is a small

bed. Two suitcases are useful for storing my clothes. There is a wastebasket and there are

two buckets for bathing. There is also a study table, a gallon of water, and a shoe rack. There

are 2 windows and curtains. There are also two baskets to put equipment such as powder,

comb, soap, plates, glasses, and others. I have been living here for 5 months, and so far I feel

comfortable living there.

2. Answer these questions

1. Who is your best friend?

Answer: Their names are Raudatul Jannah and Putri Ayu Cindika.

2. What do you think about him/her? (Use the ideas on the previous pages).
Answer: They were my old school friends. Raudatul Jannah was my friend in junior
high school, and Putri Ayu Cindika was my classmate in high school, I usually call her
Cindi. Raudatul is very diligent and likes physics. While Cindi, she has a good sense of
humor, so it's really fun to talk to her.

3. Describe him/her
Answer: Raudhatul has a tall body. She is about 158 cm tall. She has big eyes. She
has curly hair. She has thin lips and chatty nature. She also often tells about all the
things he has ever experienced and all things related to his life. While Cindi, she has
a slightly filled body. Her eyes are so beautiful. On her cheeks, some dimples are not
too obvious. She is very thorough in doing something. She likes spicy food. she is
good at cooking. They both have beautiful voices.

3. Exercise 4 (Look at the following sentences. Write down what you think the words
in bold print mean?

1. A negative characteristic of only children is they are often unforgiving:

Answer: Not willing or not able to forgive.

2. Some are nurturers/caregivers:

Answer: Someone who provides food or care to grow, develop or succeed.

3. Their motto might be ‘peace at any price’:

Answer: Freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions, nothing that

cannot be handled.

4. They are extrovert:

Answer: An outgoing, overtly expressive person.

5. They are fearful of rejection:

Answer: Showing or causing fear, frightened, or worried about something.

4. Write a short paragraph about your personality

I'm a shy person, I don't like it when I'm the center of attention. I think too much rather

than act, so it affects my feelings. I care too much about what other people think, without

considering my own. I am also not very motivated. when someone motivates me, at first

I am excited to be someone more productive tomorrow, but when tomorrow comes, I

even become lazy, and don't do what I planned yesterday. However, I also have a

conscientious personality. when doing homework, I will do it wholeheartedly, even

though sometimes it makes me submit my assignments close to the deadline.
