According to studies, subject-specific teacher training leads to more proficient instruction and increased
student achievement (Hobbs & Torner, 2019). Since the phenomenon provides opportunities for
ongoing professional learning and formal professional development (PD) of teachers, it must be
regarded as a significant issue in teacher education, spanning both the initial teacher education phase
and the period after entering the teaching profession.
