The book I chose for my book report is called Pendragon Book Five: Black Water. The story is set in various places. On the territory of Eelong. It is a beautiful forest where tigers, called klees, are the regular inhabitants and humans, called gars, are the animals. There cities are built in the trees. The other territory is Second Earth which is our normal world in the present time. The author of the story is called Donald James Machale, or better known as D.J Machale, is a writer, director, executive producer, and creator of several popular television series and movies. He was born in March 11, 1956. He attended New York University and got a BFA in film production. He never enjoyed writing until college, where his screenwriting teacher changed his way of thinking. He is currently working on a new book. The main characters in the book are the following. Bobby Pendragon is the traveler from second earth and the lead traveler in the conservation of Halla. He is athletic, tall and has brown hair and eyes. Mark is Bobbys dorky friend. He always fantasizes about going on an adventure with Bobby. Courtney is Bobbys girlfriend; she is beautiful, smart and athletic. Kasha is a klee and the traveler from Eelong. Her fur is jet black. She is smart but stubborn. Boon is also a klee and he is Kashas acolyte; his fur is light brown. He is hyper, strong and smart. Gunny is the traveler from First Earth. He is black and in his sixties. He is very wise and friendly. Spader is the traveler from Cloral. He has long hair, is tall and has an athletic type body. Saint Dane is the bad guy. He has blue eyes and can shape shift. Seegen is a klee and is the old traveler of Eelong. This story is about how the travelers once again are fighting with Saint Dane. They are on the territory of Eelong were Bobby unites with the acolyte and the traveler from Eelong. The soon discover that Timber, a klee from the council is really Saint Dane. He is trying to destroy the territory by exterminating all of the gars from Eelong. They didnt know how to stop him. Courtney and Mark went to the flume and found Seegen dead. The cause of death was the poison that Saint Dane used on Cloral. They assume that this is Saint Daness plan for Eelong; he is going to poison the territory. Mark and Courtney went to Cloral and recruited Spader and went to Eelong to help Bobby. Meanwhile, Kasha and Bobby are headed to Black Water. Black Water is the gars home, the gars that live here are smart and civilized. When Mark, Courtney and Spader get to Eelong they tell the group what they discovered and tell them what they have to do. They soon discover that Saint Danes plan is much greater; he is going to poison the gars doing the Advent. The Advent is the day were all the gars throughout Eelong go to Black Water and get an education, food and good treatment. When they get to Black Water they find a way to spray the antidote all over Black Water while the poison is being spread; they use the gars irrigation system. This system covers every inch of Black Water. They succeed and beat Saint Dane but Bobby is still troubled because they are not supposed to mix things from the other territories. When they leave Eelong the flume collapses and Kasha gets killed. There is no way to get back to Eelong, Spader and Gunny are stuck there, Courtney and Mark are safe on Second Earth and Bobby is in Zadaa another territory. The Climax of the story is when Bobby doesnt know if he should use the antidote or not. He is bothered because you are not supposed to mix things from other territories. This bothers him a lot because his Uncle Press, which is dead, always told him that this was an important rule that he must follow. The main external conflict of the story is that Saint Dane is trying to destroy another territory to destroy Halla. The main internal conflict is the mind game Saint Dane plays on
Bobby. This affects him a lot because he is already in a lot of trouble and chaos and this just makes him nervous. The resolution of the main conflict is that Bobby defeats Saint Dane by using the antidote from Cloral against the poison. He resolves his internal conflict by believing in himself and being confident. His friends helped him resolve these to conflicts by being there for him and helping him whenever he needed it. In my opinion the book was great. I loved it. It gives you lots of imagery and it makes u believe you are in the story. What I didnt like about the story is that the ending was sad but incomplete; it makes you want to just go and read the other book. I am looking forward to reading the next book and I hope I can continue reading this series.
