Cycle
Subject: Computer Studies
Class: SS2
Duration: 40 minutes
Lesson Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Introduction (5 minutes):
Begin by asking students what they understand by “system development.” Explain that
system development is the process of planning, creating, testing, and deploying an
information system. Introduce the concept of System Development Cycle (SDC) as a series
of steps followed when developing a new system.
Lesson Content (25 minutes):
2. Feasibility Study:
Evaluate possible solutions. Analyze the cost and feasibility of implementing a new system.
3. Investigative Study:
Deep study of the problem. Investigate similar systems and gather useful information.
4. Analysis:
Analyze the present system. Specify new requirements. Organize data gathered in the
investigative stage.
5. Design:
Includes:
i. Designing alternative systems
ii. Selecting the best system
iii. Writing a system design report
6. Implementation:
The actual development or acquisition of the system. Installation, training, and conversion.
Conclusion (5 minutes):
Recap the stages of the System Development Cycle. Emphasize that each stage is important
for successful system development.
Evaluation Questions:
8. What is the System Development Cycle?
9. List any four stages of the SDC.
10. What is the purpose of the feasibility study?
11. What are the three tasks involved in the design stage?
