Khilji dynasty ruled from 1290 to 1320.

Khilji overthrow the slave dynasty and became the second dynasty of the Delhi sultanate.

The founder of khilji dynasty was jalaluddin khilji.

Did khilji rule transferred the power from Turkey Nobel to Afghan.

Jalaluddin khilji (1290 -1296)

Jalaluddin was around 70 year old at the time of his accession.

Mongools were defeated by jalaluddin khilji near tabarhind.

He adopted the policy of tolerance and avoiding harsh punishment.

The Fort of ranthambore was invaded by him in 1290.

During his reign Alauddin khilji who was noon as Ali Gurshap Who was his nephew invaded Devagiri in
1294.

Jalaluddin was killed by his own son in law and nephew Ali Gurshap.

Alauddin khilji (1296 -1316)

He was jalal's nephew and sunny in law

in 1296 he killed jalal and succeeded the throne and given himself the title of alauddin khilji

He was the first Sultan to separate religion from politics and claimed kingship knows no kinship.

Alauddin khilji was the most powerful Sultan of this dynasty

He have done most administrative and military reform

He kept standing army and paid soldiers in cash

he is started daag and huliya system

daag was known asBranding of horses

hulia or chehra system was descriptive role of soldiers

he passed 4 ordinance

1. He banned public sale of drugs and liquors


2. Stopped Muslim grants
3. Hi confiscated the properties of nobles and started intelligence system which inform Sultan
directly if any transaction was done between nobles
4. He also stopped social gathering and marriage between nobles badaut sultans prior Permission

He was the first Sultan who ordered measurement of land to collect land revenue in cash

Market reform

Alauddin khilji fixed the cost of all the commodities

He divided the markets into 3 parts

1. The central grain market or mandi with subsidiary control shops


2. Ser – I-Adl or Diwan – I- Was market of clothes and luxury item
3. Market of slaves horses and cattles

each market was in control of sahan i mandi

Diwan I mustakraj Was created to collect revenue

Military campaign

His military general was Malik KafurWho was also known as hazar dinari

in 1299 Gujarat was attacked by Malik kafur

in 1301 ranthambore was captured from hamir dev chamana

in 1303 khilji attacked mewar whose ruler was Rana Ratan Singh for Rani padmini who was the queen
of Ratan Singh

Malik Mohammad jayasi road padmavat about Dhaka committing of jouhar bye padmini and all

in 1305 he annexed malwa from parmar

in 1311 he defeated chahamana in western Rajasthan

From 1309 onwards mallika Kapoor attacked kakatiya Kingdom of warangal Which was under pratap
rudradev after defeating pratap rudradev he brought kohinoor diamond to Delhi

After this military conquest alauddin khilji adopted the title of sikandar I Sani Which means the second
Alexander

Poet like Aamir khusro and meer Hasan were patronised by him

He built Alai darwaza the main entrance of qutub minar

Siri Fort was constructed by him at Delhi which was made capital by him

Alauddin khilji died in 1316

Mallika Kafur raised his 6 year old younger child as Sultan and another son Mubark Shah Was
imprisoned by Malik Kafur.
After few months novels killed mallika Kapur and made Mubarak shah Sultan

Mubarak Shah (1316 – 20)

He was the elder son of alauddin

he was the last ruler of khilji dynasty

he pulled all the market reforms by his father due to which inflation was created in the market

Mubarak Shah was very fond of his slave khusro Khan who was captured during malwa raid Buy Aladdin
and he was converted to Muslim from Hindu

khusro killed Mubarak Shah in 1320

A group of officer with ghazi Malik rows are revolt against khusro Khan

Ghazi Malik defeated khusro Khan in the battle of saraswati and in the battle of lahrawat

after defeating khusro ghazi Malik started his own rule in Delhi and assumed the title of ghiyasuddin
tughlaq.
