Types of IRAs
Traditional IRA Offers the opportunity for tax-deferred earnings and growth of retirement assets. You may qualify for tax-deductible contributions. TSP rollovers are made into this type of IRA. Roth IRA An account for after-tax contributions, with tax-free earnings and potentially tax-free withdrawals. SEP-IRA A retirement plan generally for small businesses and self-employed individuals. Employers make tax-deductible contributions into SEP-IRAs for their eligible employees. SIMPLE IRA Allows eligible employers with 100 or fewer employees to offer the benefit of a tax-advantaged retirement plan. SIMPLE IRAs are funded by the employer for eligible employees and sometimes also by the employee. SIMPLE IRAs are also available for self-employed persons.
