Cornell University (1962). Joined Tata group with Tata Steel Division. Became Director-in-Charge of the National Radio & Electronics Company Limited (Nelco) (1971). Advanced management program from HBS in 1975.

mill within the Tata Group. Ratan was named director of Tata Industries (1981). Appointed chairman of TATA group in 1991. Initiated project Indica which was launched in 1998. Under the chairmanship of Ratan Tata, Tata Sons successfully acquired Corus Group. (2007) Under Ratan Tata, Tata Motors bought Jaguar & Land Rover from Ford Motor Company.
