FAN THE FLAME

THE POWER OF PRAYER AND FASTING

One of the greatest challenges of a believer is to KEEP the fire burning, to KEEP your zeal for God, to KEEP your passion alive. Romans 12, Paul exhorts us to keep our passion burning alongside our gifts and callings.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye presentRo.12:1 Having then gifts differingRo.12:6 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the LordRo.12:11

Dont burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Dont quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Ro.12:11 (Amp)

Consequences of fire dying

Hypocrisy Loose Living Harsh and judgmental Dishonor and disrespect Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Ro.12:9-10

Pilgrims Progress
Fourth Picture Then I saw the Interpreter take Christian by the hand and lead him into a place where was a fire burning against a wall, and one standing by it, always casting much water upon it, to quench it; yet did the fire burn higher and hotter.

Christian: What means this? Interpreter: This fire is Gods work of grace in the heart. He who casts water upon it to put it out, is the devil; but you shall see why in spite of the water it still burns. So he led him to the other side of the wall, where he saw a man with a vessel of oil in his hand, which oil he continually cast, but secretly, into the fire.

Christian: What means this? Interpreter: This is Christ, who continually, with the oil of His grace, maintains the work already begun in the heart. So in spite of what the devil can do, grace never dies out in the heart. The man behind the wall to keep the fire is to teach thee that it is hard for the tempted to see how this work of grace is kept alive in the soul.

Dont burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Dont quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Ro.12:11

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God 1 Tim.1:6 That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands ( Amplified)

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Practical Means to Fan the Flame

Prayer Fasting The Word of God

It is a CHAIN Reaction
The Sequence:
1. AGREEMENT 2. ALIGNMENT 3. ASSIGNMENT When we come into agreement with God, we are aligned with Gods perfect will on earth, as it already is in heaven. God can then use us in ways we never thought possible. Then we walk in our assignment.

When aligned with Gods purpose in heaven we are propelled forward with unstoppable momentum, because God is always on the move. Fasting is key to establishing this spiritual momentum, because it moves us to deeper agreement with Godwhich means we are in greater alignment with God.

Gen.2:4-6
This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
