o Presence of natural antibodies against A and B
o Isoagglutinins agglutinins against antigens of the same
species
Antibodies against other blood factors, such as RH
o Not naturally present but from immunization
Pregnancy or blood transfusion
Natural antibodies are immune antibodies against A and B
Prenatally it is impossible to predict hemolytic disease of the
newborn due to ABO incompatibility
Summary
10% haemolitic disease of the newborn is caused
by ABO compatibility
