PHILOSOPHY THAT GUIDES

LIJJAT
SHRI MAHILA GRIHA UDYOG LIJJAT PAPAD IS SYNTHESIS OF THREE
DIFFERENT CONCEPTS, NAMELY:
The Concept of Business.
The concept of Family.
The concept of devotion.

THREE GOLDEN RULES

Beside basic principles like self-reliance, co-ownership & faith in dignity of
labor, the institution has also formed three Golden Rules.
1. All the rights of the institution must belong to members only
2. There must maintains of Lijjat quality at any cost
3. There must be clean and bound accounting system

BASIC THOUGHTS
It is voluntary organization of sisters.
The organization is neither for the poor sisters nor for the rich ones
It never accepts charity or grant.
It believes in running the business wisely.
The organization strictly observes the practice of maintaining the accounts regularly
writing the books daily & preparing balance sheets every month.
The organization is like a family & sisters run it as if they all belong to the same family.
The organization is like a revered place of worship.
No one can change these basic thoughts of the organization

INSTITUTIONAL WORK FLOW

Only one lady from each family can be a member at Lijjat.
Each lady is expected to roll around 5kg dough of papad each day.
Each lady makes about 400 papads day
Sisters are given .39/kg as Vanay( as they dont call it as wage)
When she hands it over to the company.
The sisters at Lijjat DO NOT use machines to Roll the papads .

INSTITUTIONAL WORK FLOW

Lijjat believes thats how it maintains its taste due to the only use to hand and no
machines.
The taste of Lijjat remains the same no matter where in the world the ladies make the
papad cause of the same quality ingredients used to make them.
Once made and rolled , they are assembled at one office and then distributed to the
distributors all over.
There is no warehouse made for Lijjat.
The workers are made to go through a training at the Lijjat training house for about 5-7
days after which they are expected to continue the work at their respected houses.
Lijjat entirely works on the profit sharing structure.
The cheque for the same is given to the workers at the end of the year and the other
during diwali.

GOVERNMENT ROLE PLAY

As per govt. regulations, self employment to all ladies is given by objectives.
Tax Exception
Govt. provides interest subsidy for Lijjat

Lijjat papad has played a very important role to help the government during natural
calamities .
