Say and tell

Say and tell have the same meaning: to utter, to pronounce in words, to communicate, to inform
but are used in different constructions.
Mother told to me, I am very happy.
Preposition to is never used after tell.
Mother told me (that) she was happy.

The teacher says to us to stand up.

Commands: Tell + object + infinitive is used for commands.

The teacher told us to stand up.

She say to me not to worry about the time.

Advice: Tell + object + infinitive is used for advice.

Tell someone (not) to do something.

She told me not to worry about the time.

I told to my friend something.

When Both say and tell are followed by an indirect object. Say indirect object is used with
preposition to, and after tell indirect object is always used without preposition.

I told my friend something.

We say to someone something

We tell someone something
