What is the PhilSAT?
PhilSAT stands for Philippine Law

School Admission Test.
It is a nationwide uniform exam
that an aspiring law student must
take as a requirement for
admission to any law school.
It is administered under the control
and supervision of the Legal
Education Board.
Who may take the PhilSAT?
An aspiring law student is qualified to take the test if

he or she is
[a] a graduate of a 4-year bachelors degree or its

equivalent from a duly recognized higher institution in
the Philippines;
[b] expecting to graduate from a 4-year bachelors

degree or its equivalent from a duly recognized higher
institution in the Philippines at the end of the school
year when the PhilSAT will be administered; or
[c] a graduate from a foreign higher education

institution with a degree equivalent to a 4-year
bachelors degree as certified by the Commission on
Higher Education.
Who is exempt from taking the PhilSAT?
An applicant a) who graduated with honors;

b) who was conferred professional civil
service eligibility; and c) who is enrolling
within 2 years from graduation is exempt
from taking the test. Note that all three
conditions must be satisfied in order to
qualify for exemption. An honor school
graduate may likewise be exempt from
taking the civil service exam. Read about

Application for exemption shall be filed
directly with the LEB.
What is the format of
the PhilSAT?
It is a one-day aptitude
test which is composed of
multiple choice
questions.
What is the coverage of the PhilSAT?
The coverage of the PhilSAT is almost the

same as the coverage of the UP Law
Aptitude Examination (LAE) and the entrance
tests of other top law schools. The following
topics are included in the PhilSAT:
[a] communication and language proficiency;
[b] critical thinking skills;
[c] verbal reasoning; and
[d] quantitative reasoning.

COMMUNICATIONS AND LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY.This subtest
measures the ability to recognize grammar and usage errors and
determine the appropriateness of words and phrases in given
sentences. This subtest consists of three question typessentence
completion, identifying sentence error, and improving sentences.
CRITICAL THINKING.This subtest measures the ability to analyze

and evaluate reasoning in written materials and to draw
conclusions about given propositions. This subtest consists of two
question typeslogical reasoning and analytical reasoning.
VERBAL REASONING.This subtest measures the ability to

understand written materials and make conclusions based on their
content. This subtest consists of reading passages followed by
questions about the passage.
QUANTITATIVE REASONING.This subtest measures the ability to

apply basic mathematical skills to the analysis and interpretation of
real-world numerical information to draw conclusions. This subtest
consists of three question typespattern recognition, data
interpretation, and data sufficiency.
How many times may an
applicant take the
PhilSAT?
An applicant may take the

test as many times as he or
she wants.
When is the schedule of the
PhilSAT?
It will be administered at least once a
year on or before April 16.
The target date for the first test is on
April 16, 2017.
For the academic year 2017 to 2018
law schools will still be allowed to
enroll students who do not meet the
passing score of 55%. However,
aspiring students will not be able to
enroll if they do not take the PhilSAT.
There will be testing centers
in the following locations
[a] Metro Manila;

[b] Baguio City;
[c] Legaspi City;
[d] Cebu City;
[e] Iloilo City;
[f] Davao City; and
[g] Cagayan de Oro City.
Apart from the PhilSAT, what
are the other requirements
for admission to law school?
Depending on its admission

policy, a law school may require a
higher score in the PhilSAT, an
additional or supplemental test,
and/or a personal interview of the
applicant. Check with your law
school of choice for any additional
requirements.
When do you sign up for the PHILSAT?
Note that registration is only from March 2 to April 3, 2017
What are the Registration Requirements?
Ensure that you have the following before you register
[a] A valid e-mail account which you will use for your online
application.
[b] One recent unretouched digital photo with these

specifications: 2"x 2" or at least 600x600 pixels, with white
background.
[c] A valid Passport if you are NOT a Filipino citizen.
[d] PHP 1,000.00 examination fee

Registration Procedure
1. Accomplish the registration form online via the website of the Center
for Educational Measurement . https://www.cem-inc.org.ph/philsat/
2. Fill out the required fields in the form. Please make sure that all
information entered is true and correct. You are responsible for
ensuring that your contact information is correct and current at all
time.
3. Proceed with accomplishing online the Student Information

Questionnaire (SIQ).
4. Choose your preferred mode of payment -- either by credit card or by

bank payment.
5. Check your e-mail account -- inbox and spam mailbox -- for your
PhiLSAT Identification (ID) Form and a confirmation of your payment if
you paid by credit card. Download and print a copy of your PhiLSAT
Identification (ID) Form. You will need to submit it on the test day.
Payment Procedure
You can pay online using a credit card or go through an over-

the-counter transaction at the bank. Payment should be made
on or beforethe deadline for registration.
Please note that you areNOTcompletely registered or fully qualified

to take the PhiLSAT if you haveNOTpaid the PhiLSAT testing fee
even if you have already downloaded, printed, and accomplished
your PhiLSAT ID Form.
If you choose to pay by bank deposit, you must go to the nearest

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) branch and accomplish a
Deposit/Payment Slip using the bank reference number and CEM
BPI account number given on your PhiLSAT Identification Form.
If you choose to pay by credit card, you will be directed to the

website of BPI SecurePay and will be instructed accordingly until
payment is successful.
Confirmation of payment
Credit card payments are automatically confirmed by e-mail

once payment is successful. Check your e-mail account,
both your inbox and spam mailbox, for your PhiLSAT ID
Form and payment confirmation.
If you pay through BPI, you shall receive a payment

confirmation e-mail in your inbox (or spam mailbox) after
two (2) business days.
All examinees shall get their CEM Official Receipt (OR)

together with their official PhiLSAT Certificate of Eligibility
(COE) or Certificate of Grade (COG).
Examination Pass
Go back to the CEM websitetwo (2) weeks

before the test dateand click on the link for
Room Assignment to know your test site and
room assignment. Download and print your
PhiLSAT Examination Pass. If your PhiLSAT
Application Number is not included in the list, call
the PhiLSAT Secretariat at (02) 813-3686 or 813-
3694 to 95 local 108 immediately.
Test Day Instructions
1.Report to the Test Site before 7:00 a.m.
2.Examineemustbring the following documents and materials:
1. PhiLSAT Identification (ID) Form
2. Notarized Official Certification from the college/university
Registrar that the applicant is either a GRADUATE (with details
of bachelor's degree received, year of graduation, granting
institution and its address) or a CANDIDATE FOR GRADUATION
(with details of the course enrolled in, expected date of
graduation, and name of institution with its address)
3. Valid School or Government-issued ID (e.g. Passport, Drivers
License, PRC ID, etc.)
4. Examination Pass (to be downloaded from this website two
weeks before test date)
5. Pencils (no. 2 or HB) with/and eraser
6. Transparent plastic envelope for personal valuables and other
allowed items
3.Applicant is also advised to wear appropriate attire for air-
conditioned testing rooms.
How are Test Results
Reported?
The test scores are reported

through the Certificate of
Eligibility (COE) if you pass or a
Certificate of Grade (COG) if
you score below the passing score
and the Master List of Test
Results (MLTR).
What is the passing rate for the
PhilSAT?
The passing rate is 55% or such

percentile score as may be prescribed
by the LEB.
An examinee who passes the test will

be given a Certificate of Eligibility.
An examinee who fails will be given a

Certificate of Grade.
What is the validity date of
the Certificate of
Eligibility?
The Certificate of Eligibility is

valid for two [2] years. This
must be submitted to the
applicants law school of
choice.
RELEASE OF TEST RESULTS: ELECTRONIC
COPY
An electronic copy of your test results is

available after twenty-one days from the
test date. You may click on the link for Test
Results under the Online Options on the CEM
website to view and/or download this
electronic copy. The electronic copy is NOT
valid for admission purposes. It is only meant
to make you understand your scores to help
you decide to which Philippine law schools to
apply and whether or not you will retake the
test.
RELEASE OF TEST RESULTS: CERTIFICATE OF
ELIGIBILITY/GRADE
Your PhiLSAT score will be printed in the Certificate of Eligibility

(COE) if you pass or a Certificate of Grade (COG) if you score
below the passing score. The original three copies of the
COE/COG will be mailed (at the mailing address indicated on the
PhiLSAT ID Form) or be ready for pickup (at the CEM testing
center indicated also on the PhiLSAT ID Form) forty-five days
after the test date.
To maintain confidentiality, the COE/COG is given only to the

examinee or to an authorized representative. If you will
personally pickup your COE/COG, you must present a valid ID.
If your authorized representative will request and/or pickup your

COE/COG, the following documents should be presented:
Your signed authorization letter

Photocopy of your valid ID
Valid ID of your representative
REQUEST FOR DUPLICATE COPIES
In case you need a second set of the COE/COG, you may file a
written request after one week from the release of the test results.
A minimal retrieval fee is charged for every copy of the COE/COG.
The identification requirements are as stated above.
DISTRIBUTION OF MASTER LIST OF TEST RESULTS

To safeguard the authenticity of the results, your score will also
appear on the Master List of Test Results (MLTR) which will be sent
to the Legal Education Board (LEB) andall Philippine law
schools.They must refer only to the MLTR for official PhiLSAT
scores.
RECHECKING OF ANSWER SHEETS

The CEM does not entertain rechecking of PhiLSAT answer sheets.
The results contained in the COE/COG and in the PhiLSAT MLTR are
official and are guaranteed free of discrepancies.
ABSENCE ON TEST DAY

If you are absent on the day of the test, your name will not be
included in the MLTR.
