Arabian poets very often start with
complimenting themselves out of arrogance.
He describes himself as the faith, the rain,
the diamond, as well as the one and only
him!
He asks rhetorically, what is destiny? he
answers this by describing his loved one. He
also imagines his destiny if it was to be with
his loved one. Hey describes her as insanity
itself and extreme beauty. He also says says
that even if his destiny was suffering, travel
the worlds, and whatever takes including
alienation.
* He asks rhetorically again, what is alienation?
Surrounded by my family and friends? Would I be
alienated? He means that he loves her so much that
he would feel alienated any where and he gives
examples of famous Arabic monuments and cities.
* He states he would commit suicide with
exclamation. Elabourting on that, he mentions, he
would live his life just Philandering her (flirt) and
stop eating and drinking to do so. He also says he
would reach her even if she was behind 10s of
thousands of men and even if she was in the
greatest depths of the ocean.
* In the next verses, he imagines he is talking to all the
Arabs. He was showing total desperateness for
attention because he was so happy at one moment
when his beloved finally responded to his Philandering,
with announcing her love because of that
philandering. He also describes that his philandering is
what made her announce her love to him. He starts by
describing his time with her and how wonderful it was
to meet her in midnight, morning, and all times of the
day. He uses a metaphor; and describes her as the
ocean and his will to swim in her eventhough he
does not know how to swim so he would drown in her
for his great love.
* He asks rhetorically: insanity??? It is really insanity.
* He asks the readers to keep this story of his love to
her secret and keep secret that she was amazingly
beautiful and that her veil keeps her beautiful and
pride he also brags about her being an arab and a
daughter of arabs.
* He ends this poem by saying that this story is a
secretive and the secret was that he loves her.
