BHELs Mission Statement on CSR is

BHEL's contributions towards Corporate Social Responsibility till date


includes

Adoption of villages,
Organising free medical camps/supporting charitable dispensaries,
Schools for the underprivileged and handicapped children,
Providing aid during disasters/natural calamities,
Providing employment to handicapped and Ex-serviceman,
Rainwater harvesting, plantation of millions of trees,
Energy saving and conservation of natural resources through
environmental management.

BHEL has identified seven key thrust areas under which the CSR
activities are carried out.

Thrust Areas of CSR Activities
1. Inclusive India : Mitigation of hunger and poverty through livelihood promotion/ augmenting
income generation, Imparting vocational Skills.

2. Healthy India : Promoting health care including preventive health care and sports.

3. Clean India : Sanitation and making available Safe Drinking Water, Cleaning and preserving
the Rivers, Clean surroundings; toilets in schools specially for girls

4. Educated India : Promoting education with thrust on informal education to reduce dropouts
at primary school level, value education, digital education

5. Responsible India : Women Empowerment, setting up old age homes, day care centre and
such other facilities for senior citizens, Rural Development Projects and Slum Development
Projects

6. Green India : Ensuring environmental sustainability with emphasis on projects based on

7. Heritage India : Protection of national heritage, art and culture

Focus of CSR Activities
In the mentioned thrust areas ,

Priority will be given to under privileged, neglected and weaker


sections of the society.

CSR Activities Undertaken
Green India: Protect Environment and conserve energy.

Projects undertaken by BHEL under green initiative (2016-17)

Installation of 100 kWp Grid interactive Solar Power System


in schools.
at Bhopal.
Provided financial support for installation of 75 kWp capacity
Solar PV Plant at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, New Delhi.
Installed solar street lights and domestic lights in two villages
in Medak district, Telangana.

CSR Activities Undertaken
Educated India: Deliver quality education to students of all strata of
society.

Projects undertaken by BHEL under Educated India:

Providing support for running more than 30 schools located in BHEL


manufacturing units, benefitting more than 40,000 school children.

Provided financial support for construction/ renovation of toilets,


electrical fixtures, installation of Solar Street Lights and providing
tables & chairs in 108 Govt. Schools including 8 Kasturba Gandhi
Residential Schools in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Provided financial support for running Mobile Science Labs in


vicinity of three units (one at each Unit) of BHEL viz, Haridwar,
Jhansi and Trichy, benefitting more than 30,000 students during the
year.
