INTRODUCTION
Human brain is the most valuable creation of God. Man
is called intelligent because of the brain. But the
knowledge of a brain is lost when the body is destroyed
after the death .

HISTORY AND RESEARCH
The project was founded in May 2005 by Henry
Markram at the EPFL( École polytechnique fédérale de
Lausanne) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
6
NEED OF VIRTUAL BRAIN:
7
OBJECTIVES
The project will search for insights into how
human beings think and remember.
Sensory Input :-
Receiving input such as sound ,image, etc
through sensory cell .
9
Interpretation:-
Interpretation of the received input by the
brain by defining states of neurons in the brain.
Motor Output:-
Receiving of electric responses from the brain to
perform any action .

HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
REQUIRMENT S
A Super computer.(Eg:Blue Gene)
Memory with a very large storing capacity.(16TB
in BG)
Processor with a very high processing power.(32
processor in BG)
A very wide network.
A program to convert the electric impulses from
the brain to input signal, which is to be received
by the computer and vice versa.
13
Very powerful Nanobots to act as the interface
between the natural brain and the computer.
14
BUILDING VIRTUAL BRAIN
There are 3 main steps to building the virtual brain:
1. DATA ACQUISITION:
Data acquisition involves taking brain slices, placing
them under a microscope, and measuring the shape and
electrical activity of individual neurons.
Behaviour of neurons is studied using a 12 patch
clamp instrument
2. SIMULATION:
The primary software used by the BBP for neural
simulations is a package called NEURON(in
C,C++,FORTRAN).
3. VISUALIZATION:
RT Neuron is the primary application used by the BBP for
visualization of neural simulations.

DISADVANTAGES
We become dependent upon the computer
systems.
Others may use technical knowledge against us.
Computer viruses will pose an increasingly critical
threat.
