Functions of HR Manager
• 1. A Line Function: An HR manager possesses a line authority over his own
department to accomplish the task and roles assigned to each employee of
the department. And since the majority of the decision is trickled down
from the corporate level, he actually exudes such power.

• 2. A Coordinative Function: An HR manager is also a coordinator of all the


decision, activities in the personnel area. This is referred to as functional
control.

• 3. A Staff Function: This is basically an advisory role played by the manager


whereby he only assists line managers, but that does not mean his advice
shall be taken finally. It all depends on the discretion of the line manager.
Such a function involves assisting on areas such as training, evaluating,
rewarding, counseling, promoting, and firing of employees, etc. Many a
times, HR managers also update the line managers as well as top
management regarding the current trends and new methods of solving
problems.
Staff functions of hr
There are five roles of the HR which bring out the staff role of the HR in the
modern times. These Five roles are :

* HR as a coach: Enable professional growth and to help


executives achieve their full potential.
* HR as an architect: Identifying what are the cultures and
capabilities required to enable the firm's ideas to create
competitive success.
* HR as a builder: Craft HR practices to ensure right
behaviour.
* HR as a facilitator: Making change happen & sustain
change at 3 levels: individual, team/group, organization.
* HR as a leader: Act as role models and lead others.

FUNCTION
Recruitment & - Assist job analyst by listing specific duties -- Write job description and job
and responsibilities of the job in question specification
Selection - Develop selection tests - Develop promotion tables
- Interview candidates - Develop selection criteria
- Finalize appointments

Training & -Orient employees regarding the company -Design training programmes &
