TERMINAL 1
INTRODUCTION

• Mumbai Airport Terminal 1 stands for the Domestic Terminal.

• History:
Some of the locals identify the Terminal 1 as Santacruz airport,
because that was the name of the airport several years ago
• 3 Buildings:
The terminal 1 is divided in 3 main buildings: Terminal 1A,
Terminal 1B, Terminal 1C
• Name
It is alternatively known as Santacruz Airport given the location of
the terminal facilities in Santacruz suburbs in Andheri and mainly
because it used to be an independent airport
• Flights
Terminal 1 is home GoAir, Trujet, Indigo, Air Deccan and SpiceJet
carriers, while the other domestic services are hosted in Terminal
2.
• Transfer between Terminals:
Both Terminals share the same runways and air facilities but are
5km far one from other, and the only option to transfer between
terminals is using taxi or the fixed rate Inter-Terminal
transportation service
• Concourses
• Mumbai Airport Terminal 1 is composed by three adjacent buildings as
follows:
• Terminal 1A: It is closed since 2016.
• Terminal 1B: Air Deccan, GoAir, SpiceJet, Trujet and Indigo airlines host both
Arrivals and Departures from this concourse.
• Terminal 1C: This concourse is just used as a transferring area between 1A
and 1B prior their departure. It is home of a food court.
• Transfer between concourses
• Terminal 1C is the way to transfer between 1A and 1B prior departure.
• Transfer between terminals
• In order to transfer between terminals, it comes necessary to use any
of the available means of transport, since they are separated 5
kilometres from each other. Fixed rate inter-terminal services such as
shuttle buses and taxis, connect both Mumbai Airport terminals.

 Introduction
• The new iconic Terminal 2 is India’s
first and most advanced vertical
passenger terminal that integrates
world class design, architecture,
infrastructure and operational
efficiency, with a rich infusion of
Indian heritage and cultural character.
• It’s design is based on the eye of the
peacock
 T2 MEGA STATISTICS

• T2 Mega Apron:-
• The mammoth apron project consists of construction of over 8, 75,000
sq. m of pavement.
• These underground facilities include over 6 kilo meters of fuel
pipelines
• 5 kilo meters of drainage
• 5 oil water separators
 T2 MEGA CAPACITY

• The design of T2 combines international and domestic passenger

services under one roof.
• The highly flexible planning will ultimately accommodate 40 million
passengers per year while operating 24 hours daily.

• T2’s Mega Landscape

The T2 landscape comprises of around 80 types of plant species
indoors. The total quantity is around 77,000 in number, which includes
plants for the vertical garden.
 T2 MEGA CHECK FACILITY

• 168 nos. of Economy Check-in Counters

• 20 nos. of VIP/CIP Check-in Counters
• 8 International to International Transfer desks and
19 Recheck-in counters.
• Around 6.4 kms of Conveyor belts are used for
transporting baggage
 T2 MEGA SYSTEMS

• 90 Telecommunication Closets (TC) with 10 pairs of TC Nodes.

• 2300 CCTV Cameras (for both indoor and outdoor).
• 4100 Public Address Speakers
• 24000 Data Ports.
• 700 FIDS Display + 500 Advertising Screens
 T2 MEGA TRANSPORT FACILITIES

• T2 has India's tallest airport escalator which is 11.6 m in height and

serves from the 6th to 10th level of MLCP.
• The terminal’s transportation facilities also include
• 72 lifts
• 48 escalators
• 37 travellators.
• 6 Scenic lifts will be installed to enhance the aesthetic view of the
airport and one AOCC round glass seamless glass doors lift will be
exclusive for VVIPs.
 LEVEL 2: ARRIVALS

• The allocated arrivals as per respective airlines is as follows:

On arrival, we have to directly proceed to baggage

claim. Respective flight and belt displays are displayed
on the Flight Information Display System to inform
and guide the passengers towards the allocated
baggage belt for the respective airline.
Baggage Reclaim

• Baggage carousels are provisioned at Level 2 post the

Immigration and Duty Free area. The Baggage system at T2
ensures seamless, effective and hassle free processing of
baggage.
• Post baggage claim, we may proceed toward the exit. Exit
gate have dedicated counters for prepaid taxi, cab rental
booking, hotel booking, etc. Passengers can book their
transportation and hotel accommodation at the arrivals
gate itself.
 CAR PARKING
All vehicles arriving at T2 to pick up
arriving passengers are routed via the
Multi Level Car Park and are charged a
fee to counter traffic congestion at the
airport. Vehicles are charged a
minimum fee of Rs 110/- for 30
minutes.

• A series of artworks flank the moving walkways leading the

disembarking travelers towards the baggage claim area.

urbanism, its changing landscapes, dreams, memories, and dynamics
CURATORIAL NOTE ON THE ARTWORK PROGRAM

• Jaya He was conceived as an initiation into the

immediate environment and the larger context of
the airport, the city of Mumbai and of India as a
whole.
• Reflecting the many - layered story that is India,
the collection evolved into an immense multi-
disciplinary endeavor, like a new museum.

BAGGAGE HANDLING
 DESCRIPTION:-

• A baggage handling system (BHS) is a type of conveyor system

installed in airports that transports checked luggage from ticket
counters to areas where the bags can be loaded onto airplane. A BHS
also transports checked baggage coming from airplanes to baggage
claims or to an area where the bag can be loaded onto another
airplane.
 MAKE-UP AND BREAK-UP:-

• Make up starts from check-in counter till aircraft.

• Break up starts from aircraft till pax.

 Strangest things in baggage:-

• ECONOMICAL MOM:-
Parents: Please do not put your baby through an X-ray
scanner. Airport security will probably notice that there is a
living human inside there. One couple was busted at an
airport in the United Arab Emirates when they tried to
smuggle their young son (who did not have a visa) into the
country by packing him inside a carry-on bag.
Unsurprisingly, the jig was up when officials spotted the boy
on X-ray.
HEAD IN BAGGAGE:-
You may have seen those rather frightening-looking shrunken
heads at museums and in history books, but it would still give
anyone quite a start to find one in a suitcase! Nevertheless,
this has been known to happen. Yikes!
 Persevered dead body:-

• A persevered dead body was taken by the professor for his own
research purpose after doing all the legal paperwork's.
