Functions of the skeletal
system
1.It gives the body much needed support
2.It protects the internal organs in the body.
3.It makes body movement possible through the muscles attached to them.
4.It stores important minerals like calcium
5. It is where millons of blood cells are produced.

Framework or skeleton-is made up of all the bones

-it is consist of 206 bones, bound together by Jigaments (tough and relatively
inelastic connective tissues)
-muscles are attached to the bones by togh cords called tendons
The human skeleton is divided into two setion The axial and the appendicular
skeleton
*Axial skeleton-skeleton of the head, face, neck and trunk. They are the skull
the spine and the rib cage
Functions of the skeletal system part 2

 Skull –a bony structure at the top of the spine 29 bones, protects the

brain&sense organs
 Spine-26 bones called vertebrae, connected by joints. It is also called the
backbone.It protects the spinal cord
 Rib cage-12 pairs of ribs and the sternum or breastbone. It protects the heart
and lungs
 *The appendicular skeleton-consist of the upper and lower extremities.
 Upper extremities-64 bones of shoulder:arms
 Lower extremities-62 bones of the leg
Integumentary System

 The integumentary system acts as a barrier from the outside

environment it protects the body from harmful
oraganisms,temperature,and other external factors.the integumentary
system consists of the skin, hair, glands, nails and nerves.
Functions of the Integumentary System
The skin has several functions
 It protects the body’s internal living tissues and organs.
 It protects against mieroor ganisms and invasion by infectious
organisms.
 It protects the body from dehydration and against abrupt changes in
temperature.
 It helps dipose of waste materials
Circulatory System
Transport system of the body
1.Heart - pumping organ
2.Blood - protein rich fluid
3.Blood vessels - delivers nutrients,oxygen
- picks up master

Atria/Atrium deoxygenestade
Vertricles oxygenated
4 chambers
1. Right Atrium PA-Pulmunary Artery
2. Right Vertricle PV-Pulmunary Vanes
3. Left Atrium Aorta-Largest Artery
4. Left Vertricle
Human respiratory system
 The functions of the human respiratory system is to transport air into
the lungs and the facilitate diffusion of oxygen into the blood
stream,The respiratory system is mode of body parts that help us
breathe in oxygen and breathe, out carbon dioxide,It includes these
organs:Nasal Cavity,Pharynx,larynx,(voice box),trachea(wind pipe)
Diaphragm, lungs, bronchi, epiglottis, foch organ has a definite function to
perform Nasal Cavity warms and moistens air, pharynx(throat) is the
passageway for air and it leads to trachea epiglottis covers the thracea
during swallowing so that food does not enter the lungs larynx (voice
box) is the air way to which two pairs of horizontal folds of
tissue, called vocal cord, are attached tranchea (wind pipe) a hollow
tube that connect the larynx To the bronchi are two short tubes that
branch of the lower end of the tranchea, and carry air into
lungs.Diaphragm is a muscle wall between the chest and abdomen that
the body uses for breathing, and the lungs take oxygen and
carbondioxide as we breathe.
Respiratory System

 Respiratory system is used for breathing

Parts:
1.Nose-w/tiny hairs that keep out some of the particles of dirt or other foreign
bodies that you inhale
2.Pharynx-(throat)- the passage through which air passes.
3.Larynx-(voice box)- in which vocal cards are located. It contracts or closes to
prevent the food from entering the Lungs when eating.
Types of Invertebrate Animals

 1.sponges-simplest multicellular animal

-reproduced asexually,sexually
-live exclusively in salt water.they vary in color consist of many pares:contain tubes
2.Echinoderm-they have dangerous spines that contains poisons. They are invertebrates with
tube feet for movement;breathing;food hunting.
3.Mollusks-commonly known as shellfish. They live mostly in fresh or saltwater but some snails
slugs live on land
4.Cnidorians-are aquatic animals with soft bodies shaped like a vase,a bell,or an umbrella.
5.Worms-have soft bodies. They are legless and longated.Their main senses are touch and the
ability to detect chemicals that are around them.
6.Athropads-highly developed invetebrate,They have conspicuously segmented bodies,jointed
appendages, and a hardened body layering that is periodically shed as the animals grows.Their
bodies are covered with outside skeleton, called exoskeleton. They are grouped into
crustaceans,insects,arachinids,and myria pads.
