DRONE TECHNOLOGY Definition
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone,
is an aircraft without a human pilot aboard. UAVs are a component of an unmanned aircraft system (UAS); which include a UAV, a ground-based controller, and a system of communications between the two. The flight of UAVs may operate with various degrees of autonomy: either under remote control by a human operator or autonomously by onboard computers 1. Uses of Drone Journalism, Filming and Aerial □Drones are starting to be used in photography sports photography and cinematography. They were used in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi for filming skiing and snowboarding events. Another group considering using drones is journalists. The ability to collect footage and information for use in live broadcast is a real possibility in the near future. Aerial photography for the real estate market is becoming more popular also. Shipping/ Delivery □Amazon, UPS and DHL has started using drones. Drones can be used to deliver small packages, pizzas, letters, medicines, beverages etc. at short distances Disaster Management /Search & □Equipped with high definition cameras and radars, Drones can give rescuers access Rescue to a higher field of view without the need for wasting resources on manned helicopters. And, because of their small size, they can provide a close-up view of areas where larger aerial vehicles would prove perilous or inefficient. The search and rescue mission is a battle against time, particularly in harsh conditions, and drones become a powerful tool because of the ease of deployment. Besides locating victims, a Drone could potentially be used to “drop in supplies” to an otherwise unreachable location. Geographic Mapping □Drones can reach difficult-to-access locations like eroded coastline or mountaintops and acquire very high- resolution data to create 3D maps. The technology is already available to amateurs and professionals, enabling them to collect data and instantly download the imagery. Some are even using the collected data to contribute to crowd-sourced mapping applications like OpenStreetMap. Fun/Hobby
□Plenty of hobbyists are
picking up drones to play around with, both by flying remotely and by programming drone AI (artificial- intelligence). It can be used in many ways to capture videos, photographs and drone racing. 2. Occupation that uses drone Military
□We’d be remiss to not mention
military drone jobs in this list. Some of the most controversial drone uses are by the military. Often these very large drones are used for either surveillance or bombing runs, and of course, they come with a load of potential moral baggage as well. We could probably fill the comments section debating the positives or negatives of military drones, to no real avail. Still, the military is hiring. Movie Filming □A lot cheaper than an hourly helicopter rental, and easier to zip into small, urban, or even remote spaces, drones plus small HD video cameras are a match made in cinematic heaven. Agriculture
□Drones have immense potential for easily
gathering data on crops throughout the season. Want to survey acres of crops from the comfort of your front porch? Got it. Want to see where your cattle are across that ridge? Keep the horse in the barn, the drone is on it. Check moisture, diseases, storm damage, and more all with the help of your handy flying robot device. And because farms are mostly in isolated countryside, farmers don’t have to worry about peeping in anyone’s windows or violating any privacy laws. thanks! Any questions?
