Caraga, officially known as the Caraga

Administrative Region or simply


Caraga Region and designated as
Region XIII, is an administrative region
in the Philippines occupying the
northeastern section of the island of
Mindanao.
The region comprises Five Provinces:
Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur,
Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and
Dinagat Islands.Six Cities: Butuan,
Cabadbaran, Surigao City, Tandag,
Bislig and Bayugan.

AGUSAN DEL NORTE
KAHIMUNAN FESTIVAL
Kahimunan Festival is Butuan’s way of showing
gratitude towards one of its patron saints, the Sto.
Nino, also known as Child Jesus
Celebrated every third Sunday of January in Butuan
City
The word ‘Kahimunan’ is from a dialect meaning the
‘gathering’.
SUMAYAJAW FESTIVAL
Sumayajaw showcases the ethnic attire and
colorful props. It shows to the world the creativity
of the people in showing gratitude to the Almighty
for the blessings received. Sumayajaw is a great
attraction to the townsfolk and tourists as well.

AGUSAN DEL SUR
SANTIKAN FESTIVAL
Santikan Festival is a Manobo word means striking two hard objects to make
fire, which is common to the different competitions in the festival. Manobo is
one the native tribes who live in the province.

The festival is held during the month of June 12th - 15th in the town of
Trento province of Agusan del Sur.

In the historic days of Trento, this word was often used by the natives as an
invitation to a contest usually a competition between two Manobo warriors or
the ostensible "baganis".
NALIYAGAN FESTIVAL
The manobo elders of Agusan del Sur chose the word
“Naliyagan” which means the chosen one, the most
loved one.
Naliyagan Festival which is celebrated every June 12
to 17 in Prosperidad.
This festival depicts Agusanon culture and heritage
with natives showing off their tribal dances and rituals.

KALIGUAN FESTIVAL
Celebrated every June 21-24 th

“Kaliguan” is a coined word to


mean location for a good bath and
thanksgiving for a blessed bounty.

BONOK-BONOK FESTIVAL
 The Bonok-bonok, a ritual dance of ethnic
Mamanwas, is performed during thanksgiving,
wedding ceremonies, and worship.
 The fiesta is also held in honor of San Nicolas de

Tolentino, Surigao City’s patron saint.


DINAGAT
ISLANDS
SIRONG-SIRONG FESTIVAL
 Sirong is known to be a war dance between
Muslims and Christians, reflecting the
Christianization of the early Cantilangnons.
The Manobos and the Mamanwas are known
to be the early Cantilangnons.
BUGKOSAN SA ISLA FESTIVAL
 "Bugkosan" originated from the word "pagbugkos"
means to bind, "paghiusa" to unite, "paghugpong"
to merge, "pagbug-os" to incorporate and "pagtibu"
to convene. It depicts unity and cooperation among
all Dinagatnons and promotes the province tourism
potentialities.
