    Central Visayas is a region of Philippines, numerically
    designated as Region VII. It consists of four provinces and
    three highly urbanized cities.
    Provinces: Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor, together with the
    eastern part of Negros.
    Largest City: Cebu City
    Total Land Area: 15,875km

    CEBUANO OR BISAYA

    CULTURE AND TRADITIONS
    -Moving to a newly built house, as a tradition, would prepare a
    pig or a cow to be slaughtered for the celebration. They called
    this belief, “Pa-orong”, to be protected from harms and bad
    omens.

    -The groom makes a “Panagpudno” (announcement) to the


    soon- to be bride’s parents about his intention of marrying
    their daughter.

    -Barbeque and puso (hanging rice or boiled rice wrappedin


    woven coconut leaves) have become customary. Fast-food
    abound, although international restaurants---whether
    European, Korean, or something else, are everywhere.
    FIESTA/FESTIVAL
    One of the examples of Fiesta’s in Central Visayas is the
    Saging Festival, is one of the many festivals in the island of
    Siquijor in the Philippines. It recognizes the importance of
    “saging” or banana in the lives of the people with its many
    uses. The story of how this plant came to exist is being
    depicted in dances during the fiesta of Lazi Town every
    May 15.

    Bohol is a province of the Philippines, in the country’s Central Visayas
    region. It comprises Bohol Island and numerous smaller surrounding
    islands. Bohol is also known for coral reefs and unusual geological
    formations, notably the Chocolate Hills.

    Siquijor [Pronounced as “See-Kee-Hor” Cebuano: Lalawigan
    sa Siquijor, Tagalog: Lalawigan ng Siquijor is a 5th provincial
    income class island province of the Philippine located in
    the Central Visayas region.Its capital is the municipality
    also named Siquijor.

    CEBU
    Cebu is a province of the Philippines, in the country’s Central
    Visayas region, comprising Cebu Island and more than 150
    smaller surrounding islands and islets. Cebu is also the Queen
    of the South. Cebu has many festivals but the mean is called
    Sinulog Festival.

    Negros Oriental, also called Oriental Negros or Eastern
    Negros, is a province located in the region of Central
    Visayas, in the Philippines. It occupies the southeastern
    half of the large island of Negros, and borders Negros
    Oriental, which comprises the
    northwestern half.
