COURSE DESCRIPTION

1. Aims to develop the students’ ability to appreciate, analyze and


criticize works of art.
2. Equips the students with a broad knowledge of the practical,
historical, philosophical and social relevance of arts in order to
hone their ability in articulating and understanding arts.
3. Develops students competency in researching and curating art
as well as conceptualizing, mounting and evaluating arts
production.
4. Develop students’ genuine appreciation for the Philippine Arts
by providing opportunities to explore the diverse and rich
Filipino culture.

WHAT IS ART?

• The word “ART” Is rooted from the


Aryan root word “AR” which means to
join or to put together. The Latin word
“ARS” means everything that is artificially
made or composed by man.
WHAT IS ART

Art is a diverse range of human activities in


creating visual, auditory or performing
artifacts (artworks), expressing the
author's imaginative and conceptual
idea.
All art works are product of the
creative and imaginative
character of human beings, a
characteristic which is absent from all
other living creatures.
IMAGINATION

• The action of forming new ideas, or images or


concept of external objects.

• The ability of the mind to be creative or


resourceful.
Imagination produces art, art also
inspires imagination.
CREATIVITY

• the use of the imagination or original ideas,


especially in the production of an artistic
work.

• Creativity is a phenomenon whereby


something new and somehow valuable is
formed.

• Creativity requires thinking outside the box.
• Creativity is what sets apart one artwork from
another.
• It brings us to hidden parts of ourselves.
• A creative artist does not simply copy or imitate
work.

Many individuals can relate to a single piece of artwork; serves
as a communication between individuals.

Art is just a product or sum of "created“ nature; remake of a
person's creative mind from the things we see in nature, perception,
views, impression, expression and feelings are just tools to create
beautiful creations.

Art is made by man, whereas nature is a given around us.

4. Art involves experience
Involves both the artist and the observer who encounter
each other, their mental environments, and culture at large;
not just a recording of human experience but an involvement
of it
5. Art as expression, as a form of creation
Expression made visible by a form; art allows that process to
take in order to create meaning which involves understanding
our surroundings and marking our experiences.

ART AND NATURE
• nature is original and art is only a creation by human
beings; Art tries to replicate things natural but nature will
always remain supreme.
• Art is the imagination in the mind of the artist that he
transforms into a tangible form through his skills.
• An artist gets inspired mostly by nature though there are
times when the genius of the artist draws on his own.
