TOOLS WITH ADVANCED
APPLICATION TECHNIQUES These advanced tools and techniques currently include, but are not limited to: 1. Mail merge and label generation 2. Custom animations and timing 3. Hyperlinking in presentations 4. Integrating images and external material in word processors 5. Embedded files and data 6. Advanced and complex formulas and computations MAIL MERGE Mail merge is a process to create personalized letters and pre-addressed envelopes or mailing labels for mass mailings from a form letter. The feature is usually employed in a word processing document which contains fixed text (which is the same in each output document) and variables (which act as placeholders that are replaced by text from the data source). The feature dates back to early word processors on personal computers, circa 1980. WordStar was perhaps the earliest to provide this, originally via an ancillary program called Mail merge. WordPerfect also offered this capacity for CP/M and MS-DOS systems, and Microsoft Word added it later on. The data source is typically a spreadsheet or a database which has a field or column for each variable in the template. When the mail merge process is run, the word processing system creates an output document for each row in the database, using the fixed text exactly as it appears. LABEL GENERATION
When a Process Instance number is entered the Envelope and
Label Generation process does not re-extract data for envelopes and labels. It reuses the data extracted for the main letter code report definition to merge inside the envelope or label template. EXAMPLE OF MAIL MERGING AND LABEL GENERATION: Microsoft Word ANIMATION Animation is a feature that makes the objects inserted on the slide move. You can highlight important parts or make the presentation more lively if you apply animation effects to objects. Animation not only makes slides change automatically but also controls the flow of the presentation and makes dramatic effects that attract the attention of the audience. • Custom animation - is a set of effects which can be applied to objects in PowerPoint so that they will animate in the Slide Show Power Point. HYPERLINKS
You can add hyperlinks to your presentation in order to do a wide variety
of things. You can use links to quickly get to a different place in your presentation, open a different presentation, go to the web, open a new file, or begin a message to an email address. INTEGRATING IMAGES AND EXTERNAL MATERIAL IN WORD PROCESSORS Inventor Gabriel Lippmann called the technique "photographie intégrale" (in French). It is usually translated literally as "integral photography", which suggests the integration of a whole image from parts of many small ones. Integrating Word Processing and Graphics Graphics programs are indispensable for creating and editing images. They are, however, poor choices for writing anything but a few lines of text. Some programs, Canvas for example, are billed as "Page Layout" programs, and to a certain extent perform this function. For extensive writing though, especially documents with complex formatting, such as tables, auto numbering and internal referencing, a full-featured word processing program is required. This can pose a problem when graphics are involved, since word processing (wp) programs are poor at creating and editing graphics. Except for only the most simple drawing it is necessary to use a high-end graphics program such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canvas. EXAMPLE OF INTEGRATING IMAGES Word Processor -A word processor is an electronic device or computer software application, that performs the task of composing, editing, formatting, and printing of documents. EMBEDDED FILES An embedded file is a file that is stored or hidden inside another file, particularly inside an image which may then be posted to the *chans. For example, concatenating a JPEG file with a RAR file produces an embedded archive which can be read either as a JPEG or a RAR, depending on how it's opened. EMBEDDED DATA Embedded Data is any extra information you would like recorded in addition to the question responses. It can be used to store information such as. The social media site a respondent has come from. The condition a respondent was assigned to in a research study.

Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word ADVANCED AND COMPLEX FORMULAS AND FORMULATIONS Worksheet formulas are built-in functions that are entered as part of a formula in a cell. These are the most basic functions used when learning Excel. VBA functions are built-in functions that are used in Excel's programming environment called Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
