• Boys and Girls, Belongs to middle class families
• Hostel is in Outskirts and rules are very strict,
• Lot of load shedding, electricity problem in hostel
• No colour blindness, can easily differentiate between colours
How to wash and dry clothes
WITHOUT a washing machine.

Objective

• At the end of session you would be able to summarizing and execute


the learning of washing and drying clothes without Washing Machine.
 Explain the various types of Laundry detergents are available
 List down the types of stain
 List down and utilize the process of washing and drying clothes
Detergents and Types

• Cleaning agent that helps to remove dirt and grease from


porous(fabrics, clothes) and non porous(metals, plastics) surfaces.
• They are available as liquids, powders, gels, sprays and bars.
Laundry detergents are either general purpose or light duty

• General purpose detergents are suitable for all washable fabrics.


E.g. Liquids work best on oily soils and for pre-treating soils and stains.
Powders are especially effective in lifting out clay and ground-in dirt.

• Light duty detergents are used for hand or machine washing lightly
soiled items and delicate fabrics. They are for finer fabrics.
Combination detergents

• Bleaches (chlorine and oxygen) whiten and brighten fabrics and


help remove stubborn stains and works safely on almost all
washable fabrics
• Fabric softeners
• Water softeners added to the wash or rinse, inactivate hard
water minerals

Process

• Check the garment’s care label(washing recommendations (dry


clean, machine wash, hand wash)
• Separate the white and coloured clothes
• Separate the wool, silk and delicate clothes
• Shake your clothes to get dust and if any money
• Open and dry your clothes to get rid of stinking smell
• Strained clothes require a prewash strained remover.
Process

• Use bucket/container free from dust


• Fill the bucket with luke warm water
• Add laundry detergent
• Let the clothes soak in water for half an hour.
• You can also use any good detergent soap.
• Rub gently all delicate clothes with your hands
Process

• Use brush for other clothes.


• Wring out excess water
• Choose good drying weather
• Suitable place to dry laundry outdoors
• Put a chord, install a clothesline, use hanger for drying clothes, pin up properly
• Rotate clothes
