A Paperless society is one in
which paper communication
(written documents, mail, letters, etc.) is replaced by electronic communication and storage. In simple words we can say that a paperless society can be a society/world in which the use of the paper should be very less instead of that electronic devices should be used so that we can save trees and also we can control the Global warming which is one of the greatest threat to the society. The concept was given by Frederick Wilfrid Lancaster in 1978. As we all know the demand of paper is increasing day by day. Due to this reason deforestation has also elevated to a very high extent. On this basis global warming increases, soil erosion increases, water level is increasing and the earth is getting warmer day by day. Moreover papers are wasted instead of getting utilized. 6.75 billion $ is wasted on pages every year in india. If normal A4 size weights 5.34gm(0.00000534 ton) The ministry of electronic enviournment has a total of incoming & outgoing document to be -317747 in 3 months So the amount of paper wasted in year will be=317747*4*0.00000534=6.8tons In the same way birth and death documents=125 tons, Ministry of law & justice=27 tons Other government institute=42 tons Besides this each book weights 4.5kg and folder 0.5kg the judicial department alone has 239.25 tons of books and 20.5 tons of folders. In all around 461 tons of paper are wasted every year. If we save one tone of paper than… 17 adult pine trees will be saved. 70 m2 area will be protected. 4100KwH less energy will be consumed. 32 Tons of water will be saved. 1750 lt fuel-oil will be saved. 270kg waste gas is prevented to penetrate to atmosphere. It is found that the amount of paper that one person consumes in an office within a year causes 7 trees to be cut. Sign Up for E-Statements Sign up to receive electronic bills and statements. Instead of receiving paper statements each month, companies send electronic statements and bills to your email. Entities offering electronic statements include banks, cable companies, and utility companies. Digitalize Your Documents Scan documents that you need to keep, and store them electronically on computer hard drive. Scanning old papers saves a ton of space and reduces clutter.
