Kanlaon also spelled as Kanla-on or sometimes Canlaon, is an Active Strato
Volcano on the island of Negros,Philippines. It is the highest point in Negros, as
well as the whole Visayas, with an elevation of 2,465 m (8,087 ft) above sea
level.

The volcano straddles the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental,
approximately 30 km (19 mi) southeast of Bacolod, the capital and most
populous city of Negros Occidental and of the whole island region. It is one of
the Active volcanoes of the philippines and part of the Pacific ring of fire.
The volcano has three hot springs on its slopes:
Mambucal Hot Springs on the northwest, Bucalan Hot
Spring, Bungol Hot Spring. Its adjacent volcanic edifices
are Mt. Silay and Mt. Mandalagan, north of
Kanlaon. Canlaon City now stands beside the mountain.
In March 29 2016 at 6:20 pm, Kanlaon erupted for 12 minutes which
produced a volcanic plume 1500 meters above the crater and a "booming
sound" was heard in some barangays near the volcano . According to the
police department of Canlaon City, several fire balls, which were coming from
the crater of the volcano, started to flow following a booming sound and
causing a bush fire. PHIVOLCS issued alert level number 1. No casualties were
reported
Kanlaon volcano in Negros Island erupted on Saturday morning, spewing
ash into the air, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology
(Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the phreatic explosion occurred at 9:19 a.m. and lasted until
9:46 a.m.
The 27-minute eruption produced a 400-1,500-meter grayish-white ash
plume.
The ash fall may affect villages west northwest of the volcano.
According to Solidum, they have received reports that the villages of San
Miguel, Guintubdan and Ara-al in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental were
affected by the ash fall.
