FRANCISCO B. BUENCAMINO
SR. (1883 – 1952)

 November 5, 1883 in Bulacan.


 His father was Fortunato
Buencamino, a church organist
and band master.
 His mother was Luisa Beltran, a
noted composition
 He studied music singer. and harmony
at Liceo de Manila. Unfortunately, he was
not able to finish his studies
Buencamino’s compositions include:

 Harana, Pandanggo ni Neneng, Collar de
Sampaguita, Dulces las Horas, Mayon (Fantasia
de Concierto),

 He also wrote several zarzuelas and kundimans.

 Hepassed away on October 16, 1952 after


which a posthumous award honored him with
the title “Outstanding Composer.”
Francisco Santiago(1889 –
1947)
the “Father of the Kundiman”
belongs to the “Triumvirate of
Filipino Composers.”
Santiago’s music was Romantic in
style, incorporating Western forms
and techniques with folk materials.
He composed several works such as
kundiman, symphonies, piano
concertos, another music pieces for
the piano, violin, and voice.
Among his famous works
are:

1934)

parents are Miguel Cornejo, Sr.
and Crisanta Soldevilla.

In 1949, he married Nieves


Guerrero, a lyric soprano.
He wrote over 300 compositions.
These ranged from classical to pop.
His major works include The Season -
Song Cycle (1932), A La Juventud
Filipina (1935), Philippine Symphony
No. 1 (1939), No.2 (1942), and No. 3
(1947) all for piano solo; Oriental
Fantasy (1944) and Philippine Fantasy
with Marimba Solo (1962). He wrote
music for the ballets Ibong Adarna
Lucio San Pedro (1913- 2002)
 a master composer, conductor, and
teacher whose music evokes the folk
elements of the Filipino heritage.

 Cousin to “Botong” Francisco, San


Pedro produced a wide-ranging body
of works that includes band music,
concertos for violin and orchestra,
choral works, cantatas, chamber
music, music for violin and piano, and
songs for solo voice.
His orchestral music include The Devil’s

Rosendo E. Santos Jr. (1922-
1994)

was born on September 3, 1922.

He was born and raised in


Caridad,  Cavite City in the
Philippines.

He was the youngest child and


only son. His father was Rosendo
Rosendo inherited his music
from his mother, the former
Castora Salazar: He took his
first music lessons when he
was 10 under Julian Felipe,
the composer of the
Philippine National Anthem.
