A COMPLETE ATMOSPHEREOF FREE AND UN HAMPERED INQUIRY.

• B.V. DOSHI’S PRIMARY CONCEPT FOR SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE WAS ‘IT


SHOULD BE A OPEN SPACE WITH HARDLY A DOOR’ AND HE WAS
DETERMINED TO USE SUCH ACCESSIBLITY NOT ONLY AS A METAPHOR
FOR ACADAMIC FREEDOM, BUT ALSO FOR ENVIRONMENTAL
RESPONSIVENESS.
ARCHITECT’S PHILOSOPHY
• ELIMINATION OF CLASSROOM FEELING.
• ARCHITECTURE WITHOUT BARRIERS.
• INTEGRATION OF OPEN SPACES.
• EASE OF INTERACTION BETWEEN VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS.
ORIENTATION
• THE BUILDINGS ARE PLACED ORTHOGONALLY WITH RESPECT TO SIDES
OF THE SITE AND HENCE ALONG THE CARDINAL POINTS.
• THE BUILDINGS ARE ORIENTED IN A WAY TO AVOID THE HARSH SUN
LIGHT.
• IT ONLY ALLOWS LIGHT BUT NOT HOT SUN TO THE INTERIORS DURING
MID WHEN THE SUN IS HIGH.
• THE SOUTH FACADE OF BUILDING HAS LONG PROJECTIONS AND ON THE
NORTH FAÇADE OF BUILDING HAS SMALL PROJECTION.

• EXTERNAL CIRCULATION IS GENEROUS, INTERNAL CIRCULATION IS LIGHT.
• THE PLANNING OF INTERIOR SPACES HAS BEEN DONE BY MINIMIZING.
