MY INCREDIBLE BODY
The circulatory
system
is a network consisting of blood, blood
vessels, and the heart. This network
supplies tissues in the body with oxygen
and other nutrients, transports hormones,
and removes unnecessary waste products.
The reproductive
system
or genital system is a system of
sex organs within an organism which work
together for the purpose of
sexual reproduction. Many non-living
substances such as fluids, hormones, and
pheromones are also important accessories
to the reproductive system.
The skeletal system
includes all of the bones and joints in the
body. Each bone is a complex living organ
that is made up of many cells, protein
fibers, and minerals. The skeleton acts as a
scaffold by providing support and
protection for the soft tissues that make up
the rest of the body.
The muscular
system
is an organ system consisting of skeletal,
smooth and cardiac muscles. It permits
movement of the body, maintains posture
and circulates blood throughout the body.
Together with the skeletal system, it forms
the musculoskeletal system, which is
responsible for movement of the human
body.
The human digestive
system
consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus
the accessory organs of digestion (the
tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and
gallbladder). Digestion involves the
breakdown of food into smaller and
smaller components, until they can be
absorbed and assimilated into the body.
The nervous system
is a complex collection of nerves and
specialized cells known as neurons that
transmit signals between different parts of
the body. It is essentially the body's
electrical wiring. Structurally, the nervous
system has two components: the
central nervous system and the
peripheral nervous system.
The respiratory
system
is what allows us to breathe and
exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen.
The human respiratory system is a
series of organs responsible for
taking in oxygen and expelling carbon
dioxide. The primary organs of
the respiratory system are the lungs,
which carry out this exchange of
Humans have
five basic
senses:
sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.
Humans have five basic
senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell
and taste. The sensing organs associated
with each sense send information to the
brain to help us understand and perceive
the world around us.
The brain
is one of the largest and most complex
organs in the human body. It is made up
of more than 100 billion nerves that
communicate in trillions of connections
called synapses. The brain stem is
between the spinal cord and the rest of
the brain. Basic functions like breathing
and sleep are controlled here.
The integumentary
system
comprises the skin and its appendages
acting to protect the body from various
kinds of damage, such as loss of water or
damages from outside.
The integumentary system includes hair,
scales, feathers, hooves, and nails.
The excretory
system
is the system of an organism's body that
performs the function of excretion, the
bodily process of discharging wastes.
The Excretory system is responsible for
the elimination of wastes produced by
homeostasis.
