Detailed Project Report

for Establishing VLSI

Centre of Excellence
(VLSI training in AP)

1
Offering :
 The World class infrastructure for academic excellence in VLSI design to Run
professional courses.

 Linkage to Top most VLSI institute for teaching pedagogy.

 Major Goal of Our unique center to Train in VLSI Physical Design and Provide 100%
Placements in Level 5 companies like Intel, Infosys, Mentor Graphics, Samsung,
Sandisk, Wipro, HCL, Rambus, Si2chip, Sevi Tech, Aricent, Mediatek , Cadence etc.,

 Around Rs. 1 Crore Revenue generated by VLSI Skill Centre.

 ECE, EEE, CSE & IT Students are eligible for VLSI Course.

 ECE, EEE & IT Students are eligible for Embedded System Course
Scope for VLSI

VLSI industry is the future of Indian electronics industry .Two new

fabrication plants are to be set up in India by the year 2020. That means,
in 3 years time, you will be seeing ICs and chips in your PCs and
machines with ‘Made in India’ inscribed on them.

Indian electronics manufacturing industry is growing at a rate that is

almost double the national GDP. And governments aims at creating 28
million job opportunities in ESDM (Electronic System Design and
Manufacturing) sector.

Indian VLSI industry is already short of workforce. Practical VLSI courses are
still not able to implement in most of the Indian universities, Naturally, the
demand of chip design industry is outstrips supply being provided by Indian
institutions.

IITs and NITs together satisfy only 25% of the job requirement in chip design
industry. And rest of the Indian universities and colleges are unable to meet this
need.

“At the entry level, as fresh undergraduates (B.Tech/B.E.), it is comparatively

easier to get into FPGA based embedded system companies and ASIC-
VHDL/Verilog HDL based companies.”
VLSI professionals are always in high demand in the fast-changing chip
designing industry.

There are over 150 companies catering to this industry, including big
names like Texas Instruments, Infineon, Freescale Semiconductor,
Cadence, HCL, Intel, Lucent, Motorola, Philips Semiconductor,
Qualcomm, Sasken, Conexant, Wipro and TCS etc.,

“A career in one of these companies is highly sought after and developing
VLSI skills is a good way to make this dream a reality.”

Models

of revenue
There are two models,
 first model : wherein the course is integrated into the regular
curriculum resulting in approval for the student. The course shall be
integrated for 3/4th year students and will be covered along with the
degree.
The students have to complete the course during vacations and free time
and positively before the end of the 4th year.
Second model, the course shall be offered directly for the students which
are off campus after the graduation (
The Course offered after screening from the RV-VLSI.
The course content shall not be different, except that the course shall be
completed in a time bound project.
