History:
By the late 1940s, most of the leadership research had shifted from the trait theory
Paradigm
Definition:
The Behavioral theory is based on traits, attitude expectations, and the manager’s
treatment (behavior) of employees, which in turn determines the followers’ behavior
and performance.
During this paradigm, we are focusing on what the leader actually did on the job
(behavior), the leadership style, nature of management etc.

Nineteen out of twenty boys like the democratic leadership
style.. The only boy who liked the authoritarian style of
leadership happened to be the son of an army officer.
It was also observed that seven out of ten boys preferred the
laissez-faire leader to the autocratic
Authoritarian Leadership:
The student who where under Autocratic style were very
directive, friendly and concern about the task.
They were the most knowledgeable people.

Laissez-fair leadership:
more demands on them, showed little cooperation, and the group
members were unable to work dependently and not following the exact
rules
This can be effective in situations where group members are highly
qualified in an area of expertise.
