     Bjarke Bundgaard Ingels born 2 October 1974, is a Danish architect, founder and creative


    partner of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG),
     he is often cited as one of the most inspirational architects of our time. At an age when many
    architects are just beginning to establish themselves in professional practice, Ingels has
    already won numerous competitions and achieved a level of critical acclaim (and fame) that is
    rare for new names in the industry. His work embodies a rare optimism that is simultaneously

    BIG, founded by Bjarke Ingels in 2005, is one of the world’s most advanced studios in the
    definition of urban scenarios and horizons.
    BIG has worked on numerous projects all over the world, all sharing a visionary view and an
    interest in innovative theories about contemporary society and lifestyles.
    Its two offices in Copenhagen and New York bring together professionals from all over the
    world, promoting cultural exchange as a source of wealth in design.
    The group’s expertise ranges from architecture to design, from concept creation to engineering.
    The studio also explores new disciplines bounding on architecture, stimulating research and
    coming up with new perspectives on the cities we will live in in years to come. Digital
    representation technologies are seen not as an end in themselves but as a means of achieving

    The mountain: housing
    complex in Copenhagen
     Two young Danish architectural studios
    have come up with a bold plan for an
    intensive residential development just
    outside Copenhagen. On the basis of the
    formal model of the mountain, which gives
    the complex its name, they take advantage
    of its natural peculiarities to create an
    appropriate microclimate for the residential
    complex on the slope and the parking lots
    and service areas that form its base.

     Surprising everyone with their plans for


    the expansion of Gammel Hellerup
    Gymnasium in Denmark, the architects
    of well-known studio BIG (Bjarke Ingles)
    have opened a new chapter in their
    philosophy of architecture. In the new
    central courtyard which forms the
    wooden roof of the gym below, the
    architects make the most of the potential
    of the cladding material to design a
    unique construction linking the historic
    building with the contemporary world.
