WHAT IS
REMOTE
SENSING?
● Remote sensing is the process of detecting
and monitoring the physical characteristics of
an area by measuring its reflected and
emitted radiation at a distance without any
physical contact. ( typically from satellite or
aircraft )

ACTIVE REMOTE PASSIVE REMOTE

SENSING SENSING
ACTIVE
REMOTE
SENSING
• Active remote sensing involves a
satellite or an aircraft that transmits
signals to be reflected off of certain
objects and then detects those
reflected signals with detectors on the
same satellite or aircraft.
PASSIVE
REMOTE
SENSING
• In passive remote sensing, the
satellite or aircraft does not
transmit its own signals, but the
detector on the satellite or
aircraft detects sunlight that is
reflected off objects on the
Earth's surface.

TIUNGSA
TiungSat-1 or MySat (Malaysian Satellite) is the first
microsatellite for the Astronautic Technology in
T1
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The mission objectives of the satellite are:

● Advance remote sensing

● Digital store and forward communications

• TiungSat-1 is fitted to receive or detect visible
ultraviolet and infrared lights produced by objects
on the surface or below the surface of Earth.

• Information gathered by TiungSat-1 is sent to two

data receiving stations which are:

 National Planeterium Station,Federal

Territory of Kuala Lumpur
 Mission Control Station
(MCGS),Bangi,Selangor.
• Now, Malaysia have 4 types of satellite which are TiungSat, MEASAT-1, MEASAT-2,
MEASAT-3 and RazakSAT which were used for several function such as telephony, satellite
television and radio, mobile satellite technology, amateur radio and many more.
