ABSTRACT
Carpooling (also known as car-sharing, ride-sharing and lift sharing), is the sharing of car
journeys so that more than one person travels in a car. Carpooling reduces each person’s
travels costs such as fuel costs, tolls, and the stress of driving. Carpooling is one method that
can be easily instituted and can help resolve a variety of problems that continue to plague
urban areas, ranging from energy demands and traffic congestion to environmental pollution.
We intent on making an Web based application that will enable to let people know if vehicles
are available for carpool in their desired path they can sign in for it. This will enable people
using this application to share expense, not worry about hiring a cab and making new
connections. People having this application on their cell phone with advance facilities can
easily carpool with unacquainted people without worrying about security
INTRODUCTION
Car pooling is simply sharing of a car throughout a trip where the money that is paid is splatted,
drivers can take turns to drive too. Carpooling is also known as ride-sharing and lift sharing. It
helps in solving the problems of the urban regions. One among them is traffic.
According to survey published in times of India, Indians spend 7% of their time in a day
travelling to office. And our Indian cities are among the highly polluted cities in the world. The
concerns on the climatic conditions had been rising and various forms of pollution are identified
as the root causes. Cars are one of the major source of pollution. Typically a single car emits
about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide a year. Consider an example of four persons who travel in
their own cars has now started to car pool ,this saves an estimate of 15 metric tons of co2
approximately saving 120 trees. Car pooling not only aids environment but also helps to develop
public relations, reduces cost of travel and in cases may increase safety.
EXISTING SYSTEM
The online carpooling system is an emerging criterion that provides comfortable and consistent
rides for both the user and the car owner using this application within the city can be somewhat
difficult.
1. Services like ola and uber are existing systems.
2. Works well for intercity travelling.
3. Offshore itinerant is pricey.
4. Administrator not able to view the requests of the users.
5. Details of the routes are not given online.
PROPOSED
SYSTEM
1. The proposed system is user friendly. Good communication is maintained between admin and
driver. All the users requests can be viewed by the administrator immediately. Details of the
driver and car are maintained in the database.
2. High level security is assigned in the proposed system.
3. The ride fare is fixed by the car owner within the range of kilometres travelled and will even
take care of all administrative issues.
