Ingredient : banana flower
 Bananas are native to Indo Malaysian region of The Pacific Ocean.
It is considered to be 10000 years old, one of the first foods of the
world. Banana is the 4th largest crop. It is an exotic ingredient of
the Thai cuisine. It is very popular in West Bengal. Also known as
shukto, mochar, banana heart and banana blossom.
 It is used in salads, curry, cutlets and many more dishes. It is also
used for medicinal purposes. It has outstanding properties. It
comprises of vitamin A & C. it is packed with minerals such as
phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, copper , iron and calcium. It
keeps infections away, reduces menstrual bleeding and pain, works
as anti depressant, controls diabetes and has many other benefits.
Other relevant information
 Banana flowers emerge as a large tapered cone from the center of
the banana tree at the tip end of a forming bunch of bananas. They
are red-orange to deep purple and consist of tightly compacted
petals that house white tubular flowers within. The flower is starchy
and slightly bitter, with more vegetal flavors, entirely different than
the mature banana fruit.
 The are available year-around, with the peak season of early winter.
 The tender flowers are used for salad and soups where as the
matured flower is used for stir fry and other dishes.
RECIPE

Banana Blossom Balls


Ingredients needed

1 banana blossom {sliced thin}


½ cup rock salt
1 pc egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pc onions, chopped
1 small pc carrots, small dice
1 pc Knorr Pork Cube, dissolved in 1 tbsp hot water
2 tbsp all purpose flour
For breading:
20 grams all purpose flour
1 pc egg
20 grams breadcrumbs
100 mL oil {for frying}
Method
 Step 1
Begin by getting a bowl, and combine rock salt and banana heart. Leave this
for 10 minutes. Wash and squeeze well and repeat the process 2 - 3 times.
 Step 2
Get another bowl, and combine the eggs, banana heart, garlic, onions,
carrots, dissolved Knorr Pork Cubes and 2 tbsp flour. Mix this well and
shape into balls.
 step 3
Prepare 3 shallow trays for flour, egg and breadcrumb mixture. Coat the banana
heart balls in flour, dip it in beaten egg before rolling it in breadcrumbs
 step 4
Fry the banana balls in a preheated pan filled with cooking oil and cook until
brown in color. Get ready to taste and pair this with your favourite condiment of
ketchup or sweet chili sauce. You will just love how delicious and healthy this
dish is.
