Purpose
WHAT IS MANAGEMENT?
The art of getting things done from people so that the work is completed efficiently
and effectively.
The process of planning, organizing, leading and controlling the work of
organizational members, using all available resources to reach stated organizational
goals.
EFFICIENCY &
EFFECTIVENESS
Effectiveness is a broad concept. Effectiveness evaluates the extent to which multiple goals
—whether official or operative—are attained.
Efficiency is a more limited concept. Organizational efficiency is the amount of resources
used to produce a unit of output. It can be measured as the ratio of inputs to outputs.
