Automatic Fan Control & Intensity Control by Using Microcontroller

This document describes an automatic fan and light intensity control system using a microcontroller. The system was designed and developed by a group of students to automatically control an electric fan based on room temperature readings from a temperature sensor, and control room lights based on light intensity readings from an LDR sensor. The system uses common electronic components like an ATmega8 microcontroller, LEDs, temperature sensor, LDR, LCD display, relay, and transistor array. It provides advantages like power savings, easy temperature and light tracking, low maintenance and installation costs. The microcontroller acts as the main controller to read sensor inputs and control the fan and lights through relays accordingly.

INTRODUCTION
 This project will present the design, construction, development,
control and evaluation of an automatic switching electric fan and
also control the intensity of light.
 The microcontroller based automatic fan system and light systems
presented in this project are required to fulfill the requirement of
technologies “tomorrow will be more advanced than today”.
 The electric fan automatically switches according to the room
temperature changes and lights are switch on one by one according
to the room intensity changes.
 This electric systems are contains combination of sensor, LDR,
microcontroller and relay with integration of embedded controlled
programming.

Project Background
 Sometimes electric fan and light is wasting power
because of human attitude. Human also mostly
demands something that easily to be used without
wasting energy.

 To minimize or to reduce the power usage, this

project developed an automatic fan system where
fan is controlled by the room temperature and light
system where lights are controlled by room light
intensity.
ADVANTAGES
 Circuit is simpler in design.
 Power saving.
 Temperature variations can be
easily tracked down.
 Less maintenance.
 Easily repairable.
 Low installation cost.
