TAJ MAHAL
Back in 1632, Sha Jahan, a kind
emperor in India, decided to build
the Taj Mahal as memorial to his
favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, who
had just died.

It took more than 20 backbreaking
years and the labor of 20,000 patient
workmen to complete the Taj Mahal.
Sha Jahan was greatly pleased with
the graceful, large building with
white marble walls. Taj Mahal, which
contains the tombs of Sha Jahan and
his wife, stands on a large, white
terrace.
The mausoleum, with gleaming
white domes and shiny slender
minarets, is reflected in a nearby
pool. The beautiful gardens with tall
green trees surround the building.
There is no question that this
majestic mausoleum is a place as
great as the love of Sha Jahan for
his wife.
