INTRODUCTION TO THE BIBLE

THEOLOGY DEPARTMENT

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a three-unit course designed for bachelor’s degree in different
concentration. It is designed to the beginning Bible student to such concerns
as how we got the Bible through Biblical criticism, the authority and
inspiration of Scripture, basic Bible content, how to study and understand
the Bible. Studying the Bible from beginning to end is basic to knowing it
well, yet most literature about the Bible skips from place to place. It
introduces as well the major themes of all the books, the key verses, the
central messages, what God is saying. The students are also to begin an
exciting trip through the Bible through the guided lessons given by the
instructor online and offline. The students will also find one of the most
thrilling experiences of their Christian life.
INTRODUCTION

No man’s education is complete if he does


not know the Bible. No believer can live the
full and effective life without a grasp of the
Bible.
PURPOSE

The journey of the Bible will give us a


grounding in the Scriptures and to familiarize
ourselves what’s inside the Bible. Most
importantly, to enjoy the stories God gave to us
for human life application.
WHAT IS THE BIBLE?

The Bible (from Koine Greek τὰ βιβλία, tà biblía,


"the books") is a collection of sacred texts or
scriptures. The Bible is generally considered to be a 
product of divine inspiration and a record of the
relationship between God and humans by

Christians, Jews, Samaritans, Rastafari and
others. The Bible appears in the form of an 
anthology, a compilation of texts of a
variety of forms that are all linked by the
belief that they collectively contain the
word of God.
THE BIBLE AS A WHOLE

The Bible is God’s written revelation of His will to man.


The central theme of the Bible is Jesus Christ.
The Bible contains of 66 Books.
The Old Testament is written mostly in Hebrew. The
New Testament is written in Greek.
The word “Testament” means covenant.
