    Friendship
    ● Madame Adele Ratignolle and Edna ● Express affection & understanding -
    Pontellier are good friends even though Madame Ratignolle lays her hand over
    they have opposite characteristics. that of Mrs. Pontellier, clasp it firmly and
    ● Go to beach together, walking toward the warmly & even stroke it a little,
    beach arm in arm murmuring “Pauvre cherie” (pg. 23)
    ● Madame Ratignolle asks Edna what she is
    thinking about, denoting her cares for Edna
    (chapter 7)
    ● They share feelings - Edna confides in ● Madame Ratignolle helps Edna in taking
    Ratignolle that she feels a bit like she is care of her children when Edna go to
    walking through such a meadow; Cheniere, another island nearby (chapter
    aimlessly, unthinking and unguided 14)
    Affection
    ● Mr. Pontellier gave his wife a box of friandises with luscious and toothsome bits
    while he went out to do some business

    = Mr. Pontellier has to return to the city and left his wife alone at Grande Isle with his
    children as he has to go back to city to do some business, and they will not meet each other
    until the coming Saturday,he sent her a box of friandises with luscious and toothsome bits
    all the way from New Orleans.

    ● Mr. Pontellier is loved by his children and known as a good husband among the
    ladies

    = When Mr. Pontellier has to go back to the city, the children shows their affection towards
    their father by clinging to his legs, and imploring that numerous things be brought back to
    them.
    Affection
    ● Robert Lebrun love Edna so he leave her for good.

    = Robert and Edna finally declare their love for each other, but their happiness is cut short
    after both of them realize, they want different things. Robert wants marriage while Edna
    wants independence. Robert also know despite her sincere love toward Edna, he cannot
    escape from or ignore the rules of society. So Robert leave Edna by informing her with a
    note saying “I love you. Good bye-because I love you”.
