SCRABBLE
Scrabble
 A wordgame in which two
to four players score points
by forming words from
individual lettered tiles.

 A letterthat will spell a new
word when it is played with
in front or at the end of a
word already on the board.
Challenge
 Anopponent calls a
“Challenge” when s/he
thinks a play is not
acceptable.
Double-Double
 Whena player makes a
play with letters that cover
two Double-Word Squares
(DWS).
Duplication
 A termthat describes a
rack that has more than
one of a given letter.
Pass
 Wherein a player may pass
his/her turn by not
exchanging tiles and not
making a play on the board.
Power Tiles
 Tiles that consists of:
 2 blanks

 4 Ss

 the letters J, Q, X, and Z


End-Game
 The
portion of the scrabble
game when there are less
than seven tiles left to draw
from the bag.

CHESS PIECES
KING
 The most important chess piece.
 It is also considered as one of the
weakest.
 Moves only one square in any
direction.
QUEEN
 The most powerful piece.
 It moves in any one straight
direction.
ROOK
 May move to any square as far
as it wants, but only forward,
backward, and to the sides.
BISHOP
 Maymove as far as it wants, but
only diagonally.
KNIGHT
 Moves in an “L” shape.
PAWN
 Moves forward, but captures
diagonally.
 It can never move backwards.
CHESS TERMS
CASTLING
 The
player moves his king 2
squares over one side and then
move the rook from that side’s
corner on the square next to the
king.
CHECK
 Is
the result of a move that
places the opposing king under
an immediate threat of capture
by one or sometimes two of the
opponent’s pieces.
CHECKMATE
 A situationin which one player’s
king is threatened with capture
(or in check) having no move to
avoid the threat, thus ending the
game.
DRAW
 A chessgame where nobody
ends as a winner.
EN PASSANT
 A special
pawn capture which
can occur immediately after a
player moves 2 squares forward.
PROMOTION
 A specialability of a pawn
wherein if it reaches the last of
the other side of the board, it
can become any other chess
piece, except the king.

HOW TO PLAY
DOMINOES
 The
dominoes must be
shuffled to make a
boneyard.
 Onceyou begin drawing tiles,
they are typically placed on
the edge so that you & your
opponent can see your tiles,
but without showing the value
of the tiles.
 Eachplayer chooses a domino
at random, with the first move
going to the player holding the
“heavier” domino.
 The first player places the
first tile on the table,
usually a double-six.
 Take
turns placing tiles with
your opponent. If someone
cannot make a move, you can
draw from the boneyard.
 The
game ends when you
have placed all your tiles, or
when a game is block.
