If you noticed a single PFD, MFD or EICAS CRT go blank, what would you suspect has happened?

A CRT (tube) has failed.

Turn the MFD knob on the captain s reversionary panel to the PFD position.

How would you know if an air data computer (ADC) has failed?

A red X appears over the airspeed, altitude, and VSI on the PFD.

If the captain s ADC has failed, what action would you take?

Press the ADC button on the captain s reversionary panel.

What would you see after pressing the ADC button on the reversionary panel?

An amber ADC 2 label in upper left corner of Captains EADI.

How would an AHRS failure Appear on the PFD?

 A completely blue horizon with a boxed red ATT FAIL flag on the EADI. A red HDG FAIL flag with a red X over the EHSI.

How would you fix a FO s AHRS failure?

Press the AHRS button on the FO s reversionary panel.

What would be seen after pressing the AHRS button on the reversionary panel?

 An amber colored ATT1 label in the lower left corner of the FO s EADI. An amber colored MAG1 label directly above the FO s EHSI.

What is indicated by a large red X covering the Captain s PFD, MFD and the EICAS screens?

The #1 IC 600 has failed.

How could you fix a #1 IC 600 failure?

Press the SG button on the Captain s reversionary panel.

What labels would be seen after pushing the SG button on the Captain s reversionary panel?

The following amber colored labels: ADC2 on the CA s EADI SG on the CA s EADl ATT2 on the CA s EADI MAG2 on the CA s EHSI

How do you test the IC 600?

Press and hold the RA button for more than 6 seconds on the ground.

What is indicated by a CAS MSG on your PFD?

Both IC 600s disagree on the number of CAS messages.

What action would you take After CAS MSG?

Select both (CA s and FO s) MFD reversionary knobs to EICAS and then determine which IC 600 is accurate.

How long will a blue advisory EICAS message flash?

5 seconds.

How long will the standby attitude indicator be reliable after it loses power?

9 minutes.

When would you use the magnetic compass calibration card?

In an electrical emergency.

How do you know if you are flying an aircraft with an AHRS-900?

There is no AHRS panel.

How do you know if you are flying an aircraft with an AHRS-800?

There is an AHRS panel and a flux valve installed in the wing.

What does the SLVD position on the AHRS command?

The DG is slaved to the flux valve.

What does the DG position on the AHRS command?

The DG operates as a pure (non slaved) directional gyro.

What happens when the emergency button is pressed on the Digital Audio Panel (DAP)?

 The Captain is connected (hard wired) to the COMM 1 and NAV 1 radios. The FO is connected (hard wired) to the COMM 2 and NAV 2 radios. The observer loses radio communication.

How is the WX radar displayed on the PFD?

By pressing the FULL/WX button on the Display Control Panel (DCP).

What happens to the EHSI display when the FULL/WX button is pressed?

The EHSI display changes from a full compass rose to a 180 arc format.

What happens when the NAV button on the DCP is pressed?

A VOR or LOC navigation source is selected.

What happens when the NAV button on the DCP is pressed twice?

The cross-side VOR or LOC navigation source is selected. The CDI display changes color from green to yellow to annunciate cross-side navigation.

What happens if the FMS button on the DCP is pressed?

The FMS is selected as the navigation source.

The cross-side FMS is selected as the navigation source. The CDI display changes color from magenta to yellow to annunciate cross-side navigation.

What do the arrow keys on the radar control panel do?

They change the range of the radar display on the MFD. The WX must be boxed on the MFD to enable this.

What is the range of the radar?

5 to 300 nautical miles.

What does the RCT button on the radar control panel command?

The radar automatically increases sensitivity when rain echo attenuation is present.

What does the blue color in RCT mode represent?

The radar has automatically reached its maximum gain in these areas. These areas should be considered to be very dangerous.

What does the TGT button on the radar control panel command?

The radar automatically monitors for returns beyond the selected o on either side of range and 7.5 the aircraft s heading.

What does the SECT button on the radar control panel command?

It selects between 60o radar sweep o of (faster refresh rate) and 120 radar sweep (normal refresh rate).

What does the STB button on the radar control panel command?

It selects the stabilization mode.

What happens if the radar is not turned off prior to landing?

The radar enters forced standby (FSB) due to weight on wheels logic.

How can forced standby Be de-selected on the ground?

By pressing the STAB button on the radar control panel 4 times in 3 seconds.

What is the maximum radar tilt range?

+/- 15 degrees.

How do you manually adjust radar receiver gain?

By pulling the gain knob out. This is annunciated by a digital readout and an amber VAR flag on the PFD s and MFD s radar mode field.

What airspeeds will be commanded in a climb by selecting the FLC button on the flight guidance controller?

240 KIAS below 10,000 ft 240-270 KIAS between 10 - 12,000 ft 270 KIAS below 18000 ft .56 MACH below FL 370

What vertical speeds will be commanded in a descent by selecting the FLC button on the flight guidance controller?

 2000 fpm above 10,000ft 1000 fpm below 10,000 ft

When is low bank mode automatically selected?

Above FL250.

When is low bank mode automatically canceled?

Below FL250.

In what vertical mode is the pitch control wheel effective?

PIT mode.

How would you know if the ELT was ON?

A flashing red light on the ELT remote panel.

How would you reset the ELT?

Select TEST/RESET then ARM.

How many Gs are required to activate the ELT?

5 Gs.

Where is the ELT physically located?

In the right side of the lavatory compartment, above the toilet.

When would you press the EGPWS terrain system override button?

 If you are taking off or landing within 15NM of an airport that has a runway which:
Is less than 3,500 feet long Is not in the Allied Signal database Has no instrument approach procedure

If operating in FMS dead reckoning (DR) mode

What is accomplished when the EGPWS terrain system override button is pressed?

The enhanced feature of the EGPWS is inhibited, thus avoiding unwanted terrain alerts in airports not covered by the EGPWS database.

When will the MFD automatically display terrain information?

Within 10 nm of a terrain threat.

When will the landing gear aural warning be heard ?

Gear NOT down and locked

How can the landing gear warning aural alert be silenced?

By pressing the landing gear warning cutout button with the flap lever less than 22o (radio altimeter failure).

Pressing the landing gear warning cutout button causes the amber bar in the button to illuminate. How can the landing gear warning be reset, extinguishing the amber bar?

What does the ON inscription mean on the passenger oxygen control panel?

The electric latches for the cabin O2 masks are energized.

What else happens when the electric latches are energized?

After the masks have presented is there any way to turn the No Smoking and Seatbelt signs off?

Yes. Select the passenger O2 selector knob to the OFF position.

With the passenger O2 selector knob in the AUTO position, when will the cabin O2 masks be presented?

When the cabin altitude reaches 14,000 feet.

How many minutes will the passenger O2 generators last?

12 minutes.

When the oxygen for the crew reaches 400 PSI, how many minutes of oxygen remain for three crewmembers?

12 minutes.

What is the minimum O2 pressure required for the walk-around O2 bottle?

1200 psi.
