HOW TO DEVELOP

FAITH IN CHILDREN?
Key Text:
“Teach children how
they should live, and
they will remember it
all their life.”
Proverbs 22:6 NIV
“Start children on the
right road, and even in
old age he will not leave
it.”
(Proverbs 22:6) TNEB
“Train up a child in the
way he should go: and
when he is old, he will
not depart from it.”
Pro.22:6 NKJV
Theme:

Faith in God is the most important value

we can pass along to our children.
Faith in the Lord . It
undergirds all the other
values. Without it, values
lack meaning and substance.

Give our best effort to

guiding our children toward
faith in God.
PARENTS BE CAREFUL OF
DESIGNING THE ATMOSPHERE
OF YOUR HOME

• Children absorb the atmosphere

around them. Make your home
spiritual and faith-oriented.
• Ask yourself:
1. What music is played in your home? Will angels delight to
hear it?
2. What magazines and books are found in your book shelves?
Will they lead your children to love Jesus more?
3. What kind of food is served on your table? Are they healthy to
the mind and the body? Will they not excite the nerves of your
children making them irritable and impatient?
4. What pictures are displayed in your children’s rooms?
Will those pictures serve as their model to become God-
fearing disciples of Christ?
5. What conversation is heard on your table? Does your
conversation uplift and ennoble the thoughts of those who
hear? Does it make your children see how wondrous the
love of God is?
6. What are the things you spend your money on?
PRAY FOR YOUR CHILDREN
EVERYDAY.

• Parents gather your children around you

before you send them out to confront the
world each morning. Do the same in the
evening as you thank God for His protection
and blessing.
• Children must be conversed with God all
day.
SHARE YOUR PERSONAL FAITH
EXPERIENCE WITH YOUR CHILDREN

• Parents your own model speaks loudest

to your children.

• Parents be careful to demonstrate your

faith towards your children.
BE OPEN TO TALKING ABOUT FAITH AND
GOD WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND DISCUSS
THEIR QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

• Talk openly and freely about God. Listen

carefully for your child’s needs and unspoken
questions. Respond with love and concern, not
criticism.
During Sabbath day:
Make going to church an attractive activity. Fathers and mothers,
plan your Sabbaths so that your children will look forward to this
day with excitement. Prepare your children’s clothes set aside for
Sabbath only, plan a special dish served on Sabbaths only, and be
careful in observing the Sabbath hours, make Sabbath preparation
a family event.
HELP YOUR CHILD DEVELOP A
GROWING PERSONAL FAITH
CONNECTION WITH GOD
FIND A SUPPORT SYSTEM TO HELP
YOU DEVELOP YOUR CHILD’S FAITH

• The work of developing the faith of a child is not the

work of the parents alone. The parents need the support
of a spiritually-alive church and a faith-building school.
Children and young people look for other persons who
can become their models and heroes of faith, persons
who show how faith looks like in real life.
Corinthians 13:13

“Meanwhile these three

remain: faith, hope, and love;
and the greatest of these is
love.”
IMPORTANT VALUES WE CAN PASS
TO OUR CHILDREN

• Faith in God

• Hope for eternal life

• Love of God
Conclusion:
The best inheritance you can give your child is FAITH, not
money, not material possessions, not even good social
standing. It is FAITH that will carry them through the trials
and temptations of this life and assure us that we will be
reunited with our most precious treasures, our children, to a
life of eternity.
