Trait Theory of Leadership
According to Trait theory, leaders are born with just the right traits and abilities
for leading
• Charisma
• Intellect
• Confidence
• Communication skills, and
• Social skills.

The theory suggests that the ability to lead is inherent – that the best leaders are
born, not made. It defines leaders as valiant, mythic, and ordained to rise to
leadership when the situation arises.

Example:

From the movie, we can see that Subhash was imbibed with the love for the
country and to fight for it from his childhood. So, he attacked his teacher in the
college as he was humiliating Indian students.
The Contingency Theory

Contingency Theory of Leadership is a very special kind of

approach which states that the success of a leader does not
only depend on his abilities. There are many other factors
relating to the working environment, culture and support
which impact a the success in the process of leadership.

Example:

In the movie we can see that Subhash had to move to

Germany as the environment here in India was not conducive
for him to fight. So, he had to move to Germany to seek
support although he was full capable of leading a team.
Transformational Leadership Theory
Transformational leadership is a theory of leadership
where a leader works with teams or followers beyond their
immediate self-interests to identify needed change,
creating a vision to guide the change through influence,
inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with
committed members of a group

Example:

In the movie, we can see Subhash was fighting for whole

India’s population to give them freedom. Without even
thinking about himself, he selflessly formed a group,
motivated them to fight for India’s freedom.
The Situational Leadership Theory

The situational theory of leadership suggests that no single

leadership style is best. Instead, it depends on which type of
leadership and strategies are best-suited to the task. Overall,
we have to heard what the situation demands at right away.

Example:

In the beginning of the movie, we can see Subhash was

discussing with Mahatma Gandhi that those days were gone
when Ahinsha was effective. So, now we have to change our
strategy.
