Mission: To administer a comprehensive national civil defense


and disaster risk reduction and management program by
providing leadership in the continuous development of strategic
and systematic approaches as well as measures to reduce the
vulnerabilities and risks to hazards and manage the
consequences of disasters.

• Center for coordination of all pre- and post-disaster operational
activities

• It does not normally control field assets and leaves tactical
decisions to local disaster risk reduction and management
councils (DRRMCs)
• Mission: To operate on a 24/7 basis to provide and disseminate
disaster response and population preparedness guidelines and
facilitate effective management of the consequences of
potential, ongoing and past disaster or emergencies in order to
minimize adverse effects of disasters on lives and properties by
employing adequately supported, continuously trained and
highly-motivated competent people backed-up by adequate
equipment, stable systems and sound procedures

disaster operational activities being undertaken by

Management Team (UNDMT) in the country, the
ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Center (AHA), aid

“BATINGAW”

The NDRRMC mobile applications software


“BATINGAW” is designed to run on smartphones,
tablet computers and other mobile devices. The
name “BATINGAW” is a Pilipino word for “siren or
alarm”. It is downloadable and free of charge
intended for the public and focuses on disaster
awareness and management.

The objectives are as follows:

1. Provide handy electronic resources to the public that can


be utilize in times of emergencies.
2. Increase public awareness on the fundamentals of Disaster
Risk Reduction and areas for information-sharing that can
be incorporated in actions needed to future emergencies.
3. Use key learning points for preparedness activities such as
knowledge for individuals and their respective family
members before, during and after disasters.
