• Established by parliament in dec 1985
• Came into effect on 13 feb 1986 • It replaces processed food export promotion council • Products involved in it are :- fruits , vegetables and their products meat and meat products poultry and poultry products dairy products confectionary, buiscuits and backery products Honey , jaggery and sugar products cocoa and its products , choclates of all kinds alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages cereal and cereal products groundnuts, peanuts and walnuts pickels , chutneys guar gum floriculture and floriculture products Herbal and medicinal plants • composition • chairman appointed by the central government • agricultural marketing advisor • one member appointed by the central govt representing the planning commission • 3 member of parliament – 2 from house of people and 1 from council of states • 8 member appointed by the central government from agriculture and rural department , commerce, finance, industry, food , civil supplies , civil aviation, shipping and transport. • 5 member appointed by the central govt to represent states and uts • 7 member appointed by the central govt representing • icar, national horticultural board, national agricultural cooperative marketing federation, central food technical research institute, indian institute of packaging , spices export promotion council, cashew export promotion council • 12 members appointed by the central govt representing fruits and vegetables products industries , meat poultry and dairy industries , packaging industry, other scheduled products industries. • 12 members appointed by the central govt from among specialist in the fields of agri, economics and marketing of the scheduled products. • HQ – new delhi • 5 regional offices mumbai , kolkata , banglore , hyderabad and guwahati • 13 virtual offices • functions • participation in enquiry capital through joint ventures , other reliefs and subsidy scheme • registration of persons as exporters • fixing of standards and specifications for the scheduled products for the purpose of exports • Carrying out inspection of meat and meat products in slaughter houses , processing plants , storage premises , conveyance or other places where such products are kept or handled for the purpose of ensuring the quality of such products . • improving of packaging of scheduled products . • improving of marketing of the scheduled products outside india • promotion of export oriented production and development of scheduled products. • collection of statistics from the owners of factories engaged in the production , packaging , processing , marketing or export of scheduled products . • training in various aspects of industries connected with the scheduled products.
