NORWAY

One of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Norway shares land borders
with 3 countries:
Finland, Sweden, Russia.
Norway's capital city, Oslo, is
in the southern part of the
country.
The capital Oslo is Norway's largest city, with about 620.000
inhabitants.
Bergen is a large
city, but one with a
small-town charm and
atmosphere. Its
passionately patriotic
inhabitants are proud
of its history and
cultural traditions.
During the months of
December, January,
and February, the
days are short and the
nights long. North of
the Arctic Circle the
sun doesn’t rise for
weeks or even
months.
The weather can be very cold,
with temperatures down to
minus 40 degrees Celsius in
some places.
Compared to other
countries, people in
Norway have a lot of free
time. Norwegians
admittedly work nine to
five, but they have
afternoons and evenings
off – in addition to almost
every Saturday and
Sunday, as well as
Christmas, Easter and
summer holidays.
One of the must-see places in Norway is
ice hotels.
The Snow Hotel in Norway is a unique destination with lots of
room inside and beautifully lighted artwork made of snow. At the
geographical location of the Snow Hotel, you experience the
Polar Nights each winter from around mid-November
through mid-January.
The traditional national
costume of Norway is
called bunad. Both men and
women own these peasant
costumes.
Typical traditional dances
for Norway folk music
include the Halling
(hallingdansen), shown
in Alexander Rybak's
winning performance at the
Eurovision Song Contest.
There are a lot of holidays in
Norway. One of the biggest
holidays is Chirstmas. As
in many European countries,
most Norwegian towns and
cities also have Christmas
fairs and markets. Most
decorate the streets with
lights.
Finally, I would like to share interesting
factors about Norway with you.
When you get a book
published in Norway,
the Government will
buy a 1000 copies
and distribute them
to libraries.
In 2008, Norway
donated US$1 billion
to help save the
Amazon rainforest.
All prisoners in Norway have internet in their cells.
The longest road tunnel in the world is the
Laerdal tunnel. It is 24.5 km long and it takes on an
average 20 minutes to pass through the tunnel.
Norwegian passports
display Aurora Borealis
under UV lights..
I think Norway is one of the most
beautiful countries in the world.
