BUILDING CAPABILITIES
Just look at the difference between the capabilities of students before and after your lessons the change is subtle, but meaningful

Share your teaching plans

Plan our your strategy Introduce innovations, creativity and experiments to enable students to participate in the learning process Plan our student projects, assignments, presentations and guide the students Form teams of students to work on projects

Steps .
Understand your students (take time ) Listen to the students Share the goals, objectives and importance of the subject being taught Raise questions in the minds of students (let them be inquisitive, let them be explorative) Show / demonstrate them

Raise questions ..
Raise questions as much as possible, let the students explore answers, give them encouragement and show them direction to search and seek knowledge At the end, show them the answers and train them in searching the answers Be prepared to say I dont know we will search out

No competition only collaboration

You dont have any competitior, Just chase your own vision of ideal teacher Dont encourage competition, encourage collaboration, excellence, team work, collective efforts

Teaching from abstract to concrete

Try to put your ideas in such words that the students can visualise Use examples, which are easy to remember Use pictures, charts, diagrams, plays, stories, and even examples from films to connect to the abstract ideas

Balance your classes

Too much of contents and too little of contents both are dengerous Keep your pace little bit slow so that the average students can cope with you and adjust and adapt (the front benchers generally propel to be fast). Social orientation and social examples also have to be balanced

Understand your roles

You are not just teacher but you have to help in the management of institution from admission to examinations to placements, to result analysis to again admissions You have to understand that you are the backbone of institution and therefore you have to be prepared to take responsibilities and take initiatives to solve the problems of your institution. Undertake research, write articles and review books

Interact with your students

Have informal interactions with your students to know about their problems and understand their background Build their confidence and goodwill Show your trust and confidence on the students

Story 1
One day, a teacher came to see a retired principal to get some advice. He asked, "I'm really happy where I am teaching. I love my job and think my students are wonderful. However, I have a great opportunity at another school. I'm wondering what to do? What will I find at this new school - maybe I'm getting myself into a bad situation?" The principal took a drink of his coffee then answered, " Oh, for sure, you will find even better students and even be happier than you are now!"

Story 2
Next week, the principal had another teacher visit. He had a question and needed advice. He asked the principal, "I'm really sad and depressed at my present school. The students are horrible, I hate teaching them. I've applied for a transfer and will move schools soon. However, I'm really worried about what I will find there. What do you think?" The principal's eyes lit up and he smiled. He answered quickly, "Oh, for sure, you will find even worse students and be even more depressed than you are now!"

Story of H.B.S.
An alumni visited HBS and saw that the professor was still using the same case study. He told that it is very old case study.? The teacher replied that the case study is old but the replies are always new

Be passionate, put in your 100%

Teaching is about your look. It is about your spirit and about how you stand and "be". Teaching is about a thousand small things that flow into a moment and then the next moment. It is what can't be immediately verified and thus lasts forever. Learn to teach from your being and not your mouth and you will learn to teach well

Demonstrate and show

do not lecture, do not tell, SHOW. Learning is at all times, NOTICING. When the class is loud - the teacher should not SCREAM for them to be quiet. Rather, speak in a low tone.

Writing for books, journals, magazines

How to write well ??? How to get published ???
