    The Reproductive
    System makes it
    possible for humans to
    bear offspring and
    ensure the continuity
    of the human race.

    Humans reproduce sexually and the


    male and female are involved in
    the reproductive process.

    The Male Reproductive System
    The Male Reproductive System is composed of various
    organs with unique and important functions.

    Parts Functions
    Testes Develop male sex cells (sperm) and sex hormones (testosterone)
    Scrotum Holds the testes, supports healthy sperm production
    Epididymis Where sperms transported and stored to mature and become ready
    for fertilization
    Vas Deferens a.k.a. sperm duct, transport mature sperm to the urethra
    Urethra Passageway of semen containing sperm cells
    Prostate Produces fluids that help nourish the sperms
    Gland
    Penis Delivers the sperm to the female reproductive tract

    The Female Reproductive
    System
    Ovaries
    The ovaries are
    responsible for the
    development of female
    sex cells called the ova or
    eggs.

    Female sex hormones, estrogen


    and progesterone are also
    developed in the ovaries. These
    hormones regulate the
    reproductive process.
    Uterus
    The uterus is a hollow organ
    where the egg is deposited after
    travelling via the fallopian tube.

    When the egg is fertilized here, it


    results to pregnancy.

    The Uterus is also


    called the womb.
    The Wall of Uterus has 3 Layers of Tissue
    1. Perimetrium- external thin membranous

    2. Myometrium- middle thick layer of smooth muscle


    - exhibit strong contraction during the
    delivery of the baby

    3. Endometrium- inner glandular layer that lines the


    uterine cavity
    - under goes cyclical changes during
    menstrual cycle
    Cervix The cervix acts as the gatekeeper of
    the uterus which controls the flow of
    substances going into and out of the
    uterus.
    It allows the passage of menstrual
    fluid (in case of menstruation), or of a
    baby (in case of pregnancy).
    Fallopian Tube
    The egg travels from the
    ovary to the uterus through
    the fallopian tubes. The
    finger- like projections at the
    tubes pick up egg released by
    the ovary.
    Vagina
    The vagina is an
    elastic and muscular
    tube that connects the
    uterus of a woman to
    the vulva.

    This is where a fully


    Vagina, they’re developed fetus
    usually referring to passes through during
    the vulva, which is birth. It stretches as
    the outer part of the needed, for example,
    female genitalia. when giving birth.
    Female External Genitalia

    Mons pubis: fatty pad over the pubic symphysis


    Labia majora & minora: folds of skin encircling
    vestibule where find urethral and vaginal openings
    Clitoris: small mass of erectile tissue
    Bulb of vestibule: masses of erectile tissue just deep
    to the labia on either side of the vaginal orifice
    Perineum: Area between the vagina and anus
    Female External Genitalia
    Research how the body system works with other
    body system to maintain homeostasis?
    Infertility is not an
    inconvenience; it is a disease of
    the reproductive system that
    impairs the body’s ability to
    perform the basic function of
    reproduction.
